Description

Jan. 17. 1933. F. D. WAHLSTROM FRAME FOR DISPLAYING ADVERTISING CARDS Filed Oct.
U672 Z7521 UPOCD P/azklfi 52 0270 Patented Jan. 17, 1933 5.
FRED ID. WAHLSTROM, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS FRAME FOR DISPLAYING ADVERTISING CARDS Application filed October 5, 1931.
The invention relates to frames adapted to be suspended upon a wall for the purpose of holding replaceable advertising cards, and more particularly relates to the means for 5 suspending or fastening such frames to the supporting wall.
It is the object of this invention to pro vide fastening means for a frame which is entirely concealed when the frame is in posito hold is in place.
A further object is to provide a fastening means of inexpensive simple construction which firmly and rigidly secures the frame to its support without interference with the operation of changing the advertising card contained in the frame.
()ther objects and advantages will be apparent in the following detailed description of the invention of which a preferred form is illustrated in the accompanying drawing.
In the drawing, Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a novel card displaying frame embodying the features of my invention;
Fig. 2 is a rear perspective view of the device shown in Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a plan view, partiallyin section, of the card displaying frame shown in Figs.
. 1 and 2; and
ig. t is a fragmentary section taken substantially on the line 4 of Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawing, the numerals 1 and 2 indicate the spaced side members of the frame, joined top and bottom by a lower 5 end member 3, and upper end member 4. The members of the frame are inwardly channeled as indicated at 5 in Fig. 3 to receive the lateral edges of an advertising card 8 and a protective pane of glass 9 or other transparent 0 material. The cards are preferably inserted through a space provided by cutting away the rear portion of the upper frame member in I continuation of the planeof the side channels, 5, as illustrated in Fig. 6.
Secured to the side members, 1 and 2, and extending between them on the rear side of the frame is an angle bar 6 provided with a plurality of openings 7 through which screws or other fasteners may be inserted and secured to a wall in support of the frame.
tion and the card which the frame is adapted Serial No. 566,943.
The bar 6 may be secured to the side members of the frame by any suitable means such as screws. The fastening of the frame to a wall will, of course, be accomplished with the advertising card and glass removed from the frame. It willhere be obvious that with the frame thus secured to a supporting wall and the advertising card in place in the channels before the bar 6, the latter is entirely concealed. In operation in periodical- 6o ly changing the advertising card the protecting glass is pushed upwardly through the cut away portion of the upper member and similarly the underlying card is pushed upward when the glass may be replaced to its position and the card replaced by another.
I claim as my invention:
1. An advertising device comprising a frame having spaced side members and upper and lower end members, said spaced side '30 members being provided with channels inwardly of said frame, said upper end member having a cut away rear portion aligned with said channels, a frame supporting plate secured to each said spaced side member rearwardly of said channels, and an advertising card slidably receivable in said channels through said cut away rear portion and concealing said frame supporting plates.
2. A frame for displaying advertising cards, comprising spaced side members each having a channel longitudinally and inwardly thereof, a lower end member, a frame supporting plate secured to each said side member rearwardly of said channel and extending inwardly of said frame whereby said frame supporting plates are exposed when there is no advertising card in said frame, and concealed when an advertising card is placed in said frame, and a top end member 0 having a recess. in its rear side cooperating with said channels to permit the insertion and removal of an advertising card in said. frame forwardly of said frame supporting plates.
3. An advertising device comprising a frame having a plurality of frame members, two of said frame members being provided with channels inwardly of said frame, another said frame member having a cut-away 199 rear portion aligned with said channels, a frame supporting plate secured to each of said frame members provided with said channels, rearwardly of said channels, and 5 an advertising card slidably receivable in said channels through said cut-away rear ortion and concealing said frame supportmg plates.
