IMPROVEMENT IN CARD-RACKS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 188,519, dated March 20, 1877; application filed February 17, 1877.

To all whom-it may concern Be it known that I, JAMES P. LAMOREE, of Middlesex, in the county of Yates and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Gard-Rack, of which the following is a specification In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents a front view of my improved cardrack. Figs. 2 and 3 are side views, shown as hung up to the Wall or used as a stand on the desks; and Figs. 4 and 5 are a transverse section and front view of one of the'clamping slats or strips.

The invention relates to an improved cardrack, that may be made of scrap-pieces of lumber of any desired size, to be used for wall or desk purposes, for storing business cards thereon; and the invention consists of clamping slats or strips that are connected by tongue-and-groove joint and fastening-pins in step-shaped manner, securing the cards in the spaces between the thinner spring ends.

In the drawing, A represents the slat or strip of my improved card-rack, that is made thicker at the lower end than at the upper end, so as to give elasticity to the ends for clamping the cards inserted between the same. The thicker ends are connected by tongue-andgroove joints a, and by fasteningpins, or are glued to each other, they being arranged to each other in step-shaped manner so that the thinner spring or clamping ends extend one above the other, forming immediate spaces for the storage of the cards, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3.

The clamping-slats A may be inclosed by a frame, B, as shown in Fig. 1, or secured to a base-support, O, for use as a card-stand on desks, as shown in Fig. 3.

The slats may be made of scrap-pieces of Wood, by hand or machine, and lined with cloth or other fabric, if desired, forming a cheap, neat, and useful device for the regular storing of business-cards, that are placed and retained by the spring ends in the spaces between the same, so as to be formed with facility and dispatch.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent A card-rack formed of a series of clamping strips or slats, connected in step shape at their thicker ends, so that the thinner spring ends extend one beyond the other, and form spaces for the storing of the cards, substantially in the manner and for the purpose set forth.
