This invention appertains to new and useful improvements in artistic curtains and shades.
The principal object of this invention is to provide a curtain or shade of opaque material, translucent designed, so that said designs will be clearly visible to persons in a room when there is a light outside.
Several important objects and advantages of the invention will be found in the following specification.

Figure 1 represents an end elevational view of one form of the invention.
Figure 2 represents a sectional view, taken substantially on the line 22 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 represents an elevational View of a modification of the invention.
Figure 4: represents a sectional view, taken substantially on the line @-4 of Figure 3.
Referring to Figure 1, it can be seen that numeral 5 represents a shade of opaque material wound on the roll 6 at one end and partly extended therefrom at its opposite end. The outer end portion of this shade is provided with an artistic arrangement of openings 6, of any shape and disposition with a suitable fabric of sufficient translucency to permit the penetration of light therethrough. This fabric is preferably embroidered to the shade 5 at the edge portion of the opening.
The fabric pieces are cut to conform with the shape of the particular opening and do not transgress any portion of the shade between the openings.
The fabric inserts are denoted by numeral 7 and are also clearly shown in Figure 2.
Figure 3 is a modification of the inven tion and discloses the shade 5 provided with the artistic openings 6, in which suitable self-elastic translucent paper is inserted and secured at its edges to the edge portion of the shade at the said openings 6. This translucent paper 7' may have suitable designs thereon.
