This invention relates generally to the class of stationery, and has particular referenceto an improved pad which, while not necessarily Vrestricted to such'use, is especially designed as a combined calendar and appointment or memorandum pad. Y
Broadly, the invention comprehends a pad which includes a plurality of sets of leaves didering in numbers and sizes and having a common binding by which the leaves are secured in superposed relationship in successively deeper groups, the leaves of each group bearing related matter which runs serially from the top of each group to the bottom of the Widest group, the mode of securing the leaves being such as to permit of the simultaneous display of the related matter.
The invention further aims to provide a pad having` groups of leaves 'so arranged that the tearing off of the leaves does not destroy the relation of the grouping arrangement.
The invention furthermore resides in a pad of the indicated character which is comparatively simple in its construction, inexpensive to produce and which is highly efficient in its purpose.
Vith the above recited and other objects in y view, reference is had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which there is exhibited one example or embodiment of the invention, while the claims Y define the actual scope of the same.
`most group of leaves.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view of a calendar pad constructed in accordance with the in- Vention.
Figure 2 is a plan view of one of the lower- Figure 3 is a plan view of one of the intermediate group of leaves. Y y
Figure t is a plan view of one of the upper group of leaves.
Referring to the drawings by characters of reference, A designates a backing or basel upon which a plurality of successively more numerous and narrower sets of leaves B are arranged in superposition, and to which base and each other the leaves are bound by a commoi'i binding C. In its principal use as a cal- December 19307 1930. Serial No. 485,988.
en dar, the leaves B are divided into and comprise three successively deeper gruops 1, 2 and 3, the group 1, consisting of the widest set, corresponding in number to the numberof months in the year, the group 2, consistingof the combined widest and vnext widest sets, corresponding in number to the number of weeks in a year, and the group 3, consisting of all three sets, corresponding in number to the number of days in a given year. The group 1 i is of greater size than the remaining groups, either in one dimension as illustrated or in several or all dimensions, so that the group l has a portion a which extends beyond the area or -connes of the remaining groups and has inscribed-thereon indicia b-respectively identifying the months of a given year. The group 2, while of lesser size than group 1, is of greater size than group 8, providing on each sheet of group 2 an extending portion'c which is provided with indicia d identifying the weeks of a given year. The group 1 is also provided with portions e which underlie the extending portions c of the group 2 and which correspondingly respectively bear identifying indicia CZ for the weeks of the given year. The remaining leaves constituting group 3, together with the portions f and g' whichy directly underlie group 3, are respectively inscribed with indicia L identifying the days of a'given year. In each instance the indicia has serial continuity from the top of each group to the bottom of the widest group and occurs as follows: The indicia b (Fig. 1) consists of the names of the months i and number of a given year, therefore readingV January 1930 on the portion a and on ,the bottom leaf (Fig. 2). The indicia a3 in group 2 begins with Week ending January 4, 1930 on the top portion c and extends not only through the leaves of the instant set but continues throughout the group 2 which includes the portions e so that the medial portion of the bottom page reads VVeelr ending January 3, 1931 (Fig. 2). The indicia 7L begins with Wednesday, January 1, 1930 and continues through the entire group 3, embracing the portions f and g of the groups 2, 1, so that the `bottom portion reads Wednesday, December 31,1930 (Fig. In practice, the sheets V-tojthe'remainder-of said of group 2 may be made of a better quality or heaviei` grade of paper than the sheets of group 3, while the sheets of group 1 may be made of a still better quality or still heavier paper than the sheets of group 2, for the reason 'that the slieetsof groups land 2 remain in use longer thant'he sheets of *group-3, and the sheets of group 1 remain iniuse longer than the sheets of group 2.. @In order tofaoilitate the separation' and tearing ff of the'portions a of the sheets of group 1, the said portions a are joined to the remainder of the sheets by perforated lines. `*The portions c of the sheets of group 2 are similarly joined sheets by a perforat- `"ed`-`line j"toefaeilitateitheftearing'off of said portions.
