This invention relates to and has for an object the provision of an improved type of shampoo apparatus, including a basin with a rest for the head of a person, means dis- 5 posed below and abovethe head for spraying the washing solution or water onto the head 2o' In the accompanying drawings I have shown a preferred forni of invention, in which Fig. 1 is a side elevation of the apparatus operatively positioned on a table for use in i' giving hair treatments. As generally arranged, the apparatus in* cludes a shallow basin 1 with a frontend thereofprovided with a curved recess 2, the rear end having an extension 3 gradually decreasing in width rearwardly. The basin 1 has a bottom l which slopes inwardly from an encompassing side wall 5 to a central depressed portion 6. The wall 5 extends entirely around the basin and is provided on opposite sides with lugs 7, 7 etc., suitably i attached to or formed on the wall and bent outwardly at their upper ends from the wall,

The opposite ends of the-rest 8are provided with seanis or loops 9 'in which are held Inetalrods 10 for stiEening theends of the rest. f Said rods extend outwardly from opposite sides of the head rest and are bent to forni hooks 11 which engage the bent ends of lugs 7 for supporting 'the head rest in operative position'on 'the basin 1.-

The head rest 8 may be `provided with stripsof material as at 120m the front and rear edges thereof, which are folded over the top and bottom sides of the sheet yof vgauze'S, and are suitabl'yfattached thereto.

The arched portion 16 is provided with a suitable spray nozzle 19 whichdepe'nds therefrom inthe center ofthe device andis disposed over the head rest8. Thev portions 13 and 16 of theliquidjsupply means are y,connected with a'comnion inlet 20 by means of aT or other fitting 21, and said inlet ,may ybe connected by` meansof a ieXible hose 22 with -a source of supply for the liquids to be Lused in treatments.

A suitable hose 28 may be connected with the aperture 27 Jfor draining the contents of the basin into any receptacle. Preferably a valve 29 is provided in the outlet 25 for obvious purposes. At some point in the arch 16 a plug 34 may be inserted to prevent circulation of the water thereby, for purposes hereinafter explained.

In operation, as shown in Fig. 1, the receptacle 1 is positioned at one end oi a. table 30 and is slightly inclined rearwardly with the rear portion of the basin resting upon the table top 31 and the front portion thereof resting upon a suitable pad 32 on which a. patient, as at 33, is supported in reclining position. The head of the patient is disposed between the legs of the arch 16 and beneath the spray nozzle 19, and rests comfortably upon the head rest 8. r)Thus when valves 23 and 24: are open and the valve 29 is closed, the water or liquid from inlet 2O will circulate thru the arch 16 and the loop 1B, and the water will be sprayed downwardly from the nozzle 19 of the arch and upwardly from the orifice 14 of the loop onto the head of the patient.

The volume and pressure of the liquid is, of course, regulated by the valves 23 and 24 so that the pressure and volume in the arch and loop may be the same or different, as requirements demand. The opening of valve 23 and closing of valves 211 and 29 will obviously serve to spray the water only Jfrom the nozzle 19, while the opening of valve 24 and closing of valves 23 and 29 will serve to spray the liquid only from the loop 13.

At intervals in giving hair treatments it is necessary to rub certain elements into the hair for properly treating and cleansing the scalp, and during such periods of time the valves 28 and 24 may be closed and the valve 29 opened so that the liquid will iow from inlet 20 thru valve 29, and thence outwardly thru tube 26, outlet 27 of the basin,

and drain pipe 28. The contents of the basin will at all times flow rearwardly to and outwardly thru the outlet 27, due to the inclination of the basin as shown and described.

That l claim is:

1. A shampoo apparatus comprising a basin, a head rest supported on and above the bottom of the basin, and a liquid spraying device including spraying elements disposed below and above the head rest, and means for directing a liquid to and for spraying the same from said elements, for the purpose described.

2. A shampoo apparatus comprising a basin, a pervious head rest supported on and above the bottom of said basin, a liquid spray mounted in the basin below said head rest, a liquid spray supported on the basin and above said head rest, and means for directing liquid to said spray in regulated volume.
