DOLL
Filed Dec. 8. 1930 INVENTOR 718/" ATTORNEY Patented July 19, 1932 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE GLADYS MOORE, OF UTICA, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO THE LAM]? STUDIO, OF UTICA, N EW YORK, A FIRM COMPOSED 0F HAZEL M. HOKERK AND LYNDE D. HOKERK DOLL Application filed December 8, 1930. Serial No. 500,752.
The present invention relates to dolls and more particularly to the type which employs a flat doll figure with interchangeable costume simulating pieces. An object of this invention is'to provide a means for securing the costumes to the figure which can be used to ornament the costume.
To these and other ends, the invention consists of certain parts and combinations of parts all of which will be hereinafter described: the novel features being pointed out in the ap ended claims.
In the drawing:
Fig. 1 is a view in elevation of a doll figure with one of the costume simulating pieces in position;
Fig. 2 is a view in elevation of the doll figure without a costume;
Fig. 3 is a view in elevation of another costume simulating piece, and
Fig. 4 is a section on the line H, Fig. 1.
In the illustrated embodiment of the invention the flat doll figure, in this instance, comprises a back layer 1 of paperboard and a front layer 2 of felt colored to imitate the skin and face. This figure has projecting from the front face thereof symmetrically with reference to a median line through the figure, two resilient headed projections 3 of known form, the projections being situated slightly below the shoulders of the figure.
The costume simulating device 4 is, in this instance, in the form of sheets of felt, the top edge of which conforms to the shoulders of the figure and has a neck recess 5. Passing through the costume simulating device on opposite sides of the neck recess are two resilient sockets 6 for snapping into engagement with the headed projections. These resilient sockets having portions exposed on the front face of the costume simulating sheet and are so positioned that they act as part of the ornamentation of the costume simulating sheet.
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A toy doll comprising a fiat doll fi ure having two headed projections exten ing from the front face thereof below but adjacent the shoulders of the figure and spaced apart transversely of the doll figure, and a costume simulating sheet provided with a neck recess at its top, and two socket devices passed therethrough on opposite sides of the neck recess, the socket devices being symmetrically arranged with reference to the neck recess, engaging the headed projections to secure the costume sheet directly to the doll figure and having exposed portions on the outer face of the costume simulating sheet to provide ornamentation for the costume simulating sheet.
2. A doll toy comprising a fiat doll figure having two headed projections extending from the front face thereof below and adjacent the shoulders of the figure and spaced apart transversely of the doll figure, said doll figure consisting of a stiff back layer and a soft front fabric layer colored to imitate skin and face, a costume simulating sheet provided with a neck recess at its top, and two sockct devices passed through the said sheet on opposite sides of the neck recess, the socket devices being symmetrically arranged with reference to the neck recess and engaging the headed projections of the doll figure for detachably securing the costume simulating sheet to the said figure.
3. A toy doll consisting of a one piece stiff backing of suitable outline, comprising a body portion, head, neck, arms and legs, said backing being provided adjacent and below the shoulders with two male members of snap fasteners extending from the face thereof, a soft front layer colored to imitate the skin and of an outline corresponding with said stiff backing, and a costume simulating sheet provided with a neck recess at its top and two female snap fasteners passed therethrough, on opposite sides of the neck recess, the socket devices being symmetrically arranged with reference to the neck recess, and engaging the male members of said first mentioned snap fasteners and having exposed portions on the outer face of the costume simulating sheet to provide ornamentation for the costume simulating sheet.
