UNIVERSAL WRITING IMPLEMENT HOLDER Application filed May 6, 1931.

This invention relates to improvements in holders for writing implements particularly for pencil stubs to allow a convenient use of the same to the very end thereof, and it is the principal object of my invention to provide a holder snugly fitting about the implement and equipped with means to securely hold the same thereabout.

Another object of my invention is the pro- HF vision of a holder for writing implements of simple and inexpensive construction, yet durable and eilicient in operation.

A further object of my invention is the provision of a holder of this type consisting of a blank having its ends formed into elastic tongues to closely engage the writing implement near one of its ends and held in engagement therewith by an adjustable band.

A still further object of my invention is the provision of a holder for writing implements preferably made of thin metal or other suitable material and equipped with a band to hold it about the writing implement and a clip to support it on the clothing, etc.

Fig. 1 illustrates a blank from which my universal writing implement holder is formed.

Fig. 3 is an elevation of a universal writing implement holder constructed accordin to my invention.

Fig. 6 is a detail view of a pin used with this band.

As illustrated my implement is substantially made from a blank 10 of thin metal or the like the upper and lower ends have formed therewith a plurality of substantially triangular recesses 11 to form substantially triangular resilient tongues 12.

In position on a writing implement, as for so instance a pencil 13, the blank is folded about Serial No. 535,361.

ATNT GFFECE the pencil and held together by means of a band 14 equipped with a clip 15 to hold the same on a pocket, etc.

The elastic tongues 12 are folded about the pencil and held in this position by means of a band 16 having at one end an opening 17, and at its other tongue-shaped end a plurality of holes 18, and a pin 19, having a rounded head 20, of the same size as the width of the band is passed through the aligned holes 17, 18, of the overlapping band ends making allowance for thickness of the writing implement to securely hold the same in place in the holder.

The use of my implement will be entirely evident from the above description and reference to the drawings.

It will be understood that I have described and shown the preferred form of my holder only and that I may make such changes in its construction, as come within the scope of the appended claim without the departure from the spirit of my invention.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is to this specification.
