This invention relates to a flower-holding device adapted to be connected to and to be worn upon a garment or the like, and its objects are to provide a holder which may be easily attached to a garment, a holder which will support a flower or bouquet,,a holder which serves as a brooch, a holder having eflicient flower and bouquet retaining means, and a holder having means for supplying moisture to the flower or bouquet supported thereby.

In carrying out the invention, I provide a receptacle with means for attaching the same to a garment, a cloth fabric member within the mouth of the receptacle to support the flowers and stems of a bouquet, and moisture retaining means within the receptacle.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevation of my improved flower-holding brooch. Fig. 2 is a sectional elevation thereof. Fig. 3 is an enlarged detail plan view of the flower and stem'holding member adapted to be mounted in the mouth of the receptacle. Fig. 4 is a side elevation of the flower and stem holding member. Fig. 5 is a perspective and detail View of the clip for retaining the flower and stem holding member in the receptacle.

Referring to the drawings in detail, my improved holder consists of a receptacle body 11, having therein a sponge member 12 adapted to contain asupply of moisture. The receptacle has an ornamental and rounded face 13, and a flat back wall 14, provided with pin 15 and keeper 16 for the pin, whereby the receptacle may be secured to a garment. At the mouth 17, of the container, I provide the front wall 18 extending higher than rear wall 14, whereby flowers and bouquets are maintained against displacement. A cloth fabric tape member 19, which is detachable, is provided and arranged in the mouth 17, of the receptacle, and has a metal clip 21, adapted to engage with a hole 20 in the rear wall of the receptacle.

In use, the cloth fabric member 19 is removed and wrapped around the flower stems, the sponge element 12 is supplied with moisture, and the flower stems, with member 19 1931. Serial No. 547,668.

wrapped thereabout are inserted in the mouth of the container. The device is then attached to a garment and may be worn as a brooch or any similar ornament.

From the foregoing description and drawings, it may be seen that I have provided a simple and eflicient flower holder adapted to be worn as an ornament, and having features of convenience and facility for assembling, and efficient means for supporting flowers and bouquets in an upright position. It may be further seen that natural flowers may be worn upon any hat or garment for a long time without fading, and that there is no danger of water escaping to soil anything, and that the flowers are securely held in the container.

What is claimed is:

1. A flower holder, comprising a receptacle having a mouth, a moisture-holding element disposed therein, a cloth fabric tape element disposed in the mouth thereof, and means for retaining the tape element in position.

2. In a flower holder, a receptacle having a mouth and a flat rear wall, a projecting front portion at the mouth higher than the rear wall, a tape element disposed in the mouth of the receptacle, and adapted to be wound around the flower stems, and retaining means for the tape element.

3. In a flower holder, a receptacle having a flat rear wall, a rounded front wall, and a mouth at the top, said front wall being higher at the mouth than the rear wall, a cloth fabric tape element disposed in the mouth of the receptacle, and a clip secured to the'tape element and serving to retain and secure the tape element in its operative position.

4. In a flower holder, a receptacle having a flat rear wall, a rounded front wall, a mouth at the top, and means for securing the receptacle to a garment, a cloth fabric tape element disposed in the mouth of the receptacle, and a metal clip secured to the tape element and engaging with the receptacle to hold the tape in its operative position.

5. In a flower holder, a receptacle having a flat rear wall, a rounded front wall, a mouth at the top, and means for securing the receptacle to a garment disposed on the flat rear wall, a cloth fabric tape element disposed in the mouth of the receptacle and adapted to be Wound around the flower stems in its operative position, and a metal clip secured to the tape element and adapted to engage with the receptacle in therear wallthereoftto retain the tape in its'operative position.
