Description

March 8, 1932. P. H. MEYER PRICE CARD SUPPORTING BRECKET l iled Nov. 19, 19:50
Patented Mar. 8 ,1932.
u I i i i it it v I I 33 Application filed November 19, 1 930. s r airo. 49 ,601.;
This invention relates to price card supporting brackets for use in connection, with counter displays,'and particularly for use in conjunction with displays employing glasspartitions or frames dividing the counter into display sections or compartments;and the object of theinvention is toprovide' a;
card supporting bracket of the class specified involvin'g a rectangular frame in which the card is' detachablysupported and the" provision oftwoipairs of downwardly'extending spring arms adaptedto frictionally pass over a; supporting wall, preferablyoi glass, disposedat one end of a counter whereby said-bracket and card "maybe supported in firm,'-u'pright position and against acci dental displacement; a further object being 7 r to provide a s bracket' of'the class specified which may be quicklyand easily attached and detached, and which, may be readily shifted longitudinally of its support whenever desired; and withthese and other objects in View, the-invention consistsin' a bracket ofthe class and for the purpose specified, which is simple in construction, efiicient in use, and
which is constructed as hereinafter described and claimed;
The invention is fully disclosed in-the following specification, of which the accompanya ing drawings form a part, in which the sep arate parts of my improvement are designatt ed bysuitable reference characters in each of the views,- and in which 2- I Fig.1 is a perspective view of a portion :7 of a counter, illustrating'the arrangement of display compartments thereon and showing one'of my improved brackets. I
. Fig, 2 is a sectional, plan view of my improvedibracketyand, Y
' Fig. 3 1s a sid, and sectional view-off the bracket, the section being on the line 3-3 of;
Fig. 1.
For the purpose of illustratingthe use of 7, my improved bracket, have shown in Fig; 1 of the drawings, a portion of' a counter consisting of a table top member 5, a frontcountcr band Sand a rear counter band 601. Ar-
7 ranged upon the top; of the table member tween which are arranged glass partitions of the counter is a pluralityyof shams 7, be
8, arranged forwardly and backwardly with respect to the. counter; These shame and par- I tit-ions abuttheinner faces of front and rear glassframes9 and 10, which i'n conjunction-5 with the partitions'8, divide the, upper face of the counter into a plurality of compart; ments 11, 12 and 13'. *1
"Thesham'boards'l' "are preferably of the type disclosed .a-nyapplication for Letters Pate'nt-of'tlie United States filed by Inc J une do i 28, 1930, Serial Number 4645, 157 and are pro-e vided on opposite side walls with l'ongitudie nal grooves 1& in connectionwith which .par'
tition supportin'g'clips15areslidablyn1ounted, said clips being arranged opposite to each other on each'shamboard tosupport glass partitions l6 therebetween'in" s chmanner that the partitions may be adjusted forwardly:
ing Of-ai'ectangular frame, and this frameis, 1 made up of two split tu'besf19 forming the} all side uprights or columns of the frame,'thet split portions being arranged inwardly so as to receive a card arranged in the frame. The tribes or columns 19 are joined at the top and bottom by bands 21and22 formedfrom strips of material'having portions23 whichencircle the columns 1 9 and spaced parallel; strips 24; extending from one columnto the opposite colunm and forming a card slot 25 therebetween which'registers with the split portions 20 of the columns 19.. The strips 24 of the lower framepart 22 are joined cen trally byta stop block 26"which limits the downward movement'of the card placed" in V the frame. 7 lVeldedor otherwise secured to the outer facesof the strips 24i of the lower frame part adjacent the columns 19., arepairs of clips I 27.28 whichextend below thef'rame forming yoke-shaped, or U-shaped supporting lugs 01f clipsv which are adaptedto be sprung over the rear glass panelor mum of the counter displayas clearly seen-in Fig; 1' of the draw-1,-
ing, so as to firmly support said frame and a card arranged therein in upright position on the lass wall 10. It will be understood that the lower strip '22 of the frame rests upon the top of the wall 10, and by virtue of the constructionemployed, the bracket may be adjusted longitudinally of said wallto properly centralize the bracket with respect, to predetermined sections of the counter display. For example, the bracket 18 is shown arranged rearwardly of the compartment 12 in the counter display shown, thus forming a neat and finished appearance? It will also be understood that b virtue of the construction empioye'd, the racket 18 may be quickly attached and detached. from: its so porting wallwhenever desired On the other hand, a dis la f or rice card, may be attached and detac he wit respect to the frame without removing it from its support,
'the cardbeing placed in the frame through the opening provided between the side strips 24 ot the upper frame part 21 and the sp it portionsZO of the columns 19'. a
It will beunderstoodithat the airs of supporting lugs. 27 and 28 employe jwill beconstructed to suitthe thickness of the, supporting wall It) employed,said lugs having. sufliother changes in an cientspring. properties tofirmly engage saidsapporting wall to hold the bracketm proper position.
described corn IlSlIl 'a rectangular composed of cianne shaped side members andspaced and parallel top and. bottom strips joining the upper and lower end of s sidemembers, said strips and channel, members forming therebetween a slideway in which a card is adapted to be placed, means Oil'fibfi lower vstrips for limiting the down-- ward movement of the card,- and two pairs of clips projecting downwardly fromthe lower strigis ofithe frame and forming channels in which an elongated and relatively vthin sup port is adapted to be arranged said clips beingwtormed b metal strips attached to e outer faces of lower stmpsof saidframe.
2 A cardsupporting bracket of the class descrihed comprising a rectangular frame consisting of split, tubular side frame mem bers joined by parallel and spaced metal stri looped about the upper and lower endsof t e side frame members to form upper-and tilonsof the side trame l-nembersto lower frame members, the spaces between the strips of the upper and lower frame members being in alinement with the split portions of the side frame members to form a continuous channel in which a card is adapted to be placed through the top frame member, a block. secured between the strips of the lower frame member to limit the downward movement of said card, and pairs of supporting clips secured in opposed relation to opposite side faces of the strips of the lower frame member and projecting therebelow toengage am ere uponwhich the frame is adapted to be mounted.
3. A card supporting bracket of the class described comprising a rectangular frame cmisisting of split, tubular side frame memjoi-ned b parallel and spaced metal str' s looped shout the upper and lower endsoit side frame-members-to form upper and lowerframe members, the spaces between the: strips; of theupet and lower frame members being in a inement with the split por- 'n\ a continuous-channelin which a card is adaptedto'be placed, through the to frame member, a block secured between he stri s of the lower frame member to limit the ownward: movement of said card, and of supporting clips secured in opposed relation to opposite side faces of the strips of the lower trams member and projecti-n thereb'elow to engage a support upon while the frame is adapted? to be mounted, said clips being arranged adjacent the side portions of the frame. p
