Description

Feb. 9, 1932. R. SARSQN 1,844,603
HOLSTER Filed July 24, 1929 amante@ O Baa/c Sars-04W V L a@ Mw Patented Feb. 9, 1932 PATENT OFFICE RUFE SARSON, OF GUNNISON, COLORADO HOLSTER Application. filed July 24, 1929. serial No. 380,659.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in carrying devices, and particularly to devices for carrying revolvers, or
the like small arms. 5z One object of the invention is to provide a holster which can be easily and quickly attached to or removed from a belt, and which will properly support a slnall firearm, such as a revolver.
Another object is to provide a device of this character which may be worn inside or outside ofthe band of the trousers ofthe wearer.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a side elevation showing a belt with the holster attached thereto, the closure flap being in lowered position to show the attaching means. t
Figure 2 is a vertical longitudinal sectional `View through the holster, with the closure flap closed.
Referring particularly to the accompanying drawings, 10 represents a belt of ordinary construction, which is adapted to be worn about the waist of a person, and especially a person driving an automobile, who desires to be armed against attacks by hold-upmen. Secured in the belt, adjacent one end, are the head members 11, of separable fasteners, the socliet members 12, of which are carried by the holster, which will be described later herein. There are two of these lnelnbers 11, arranged in longitudinal alinement, with respect to the belt, and secured to the belt, intermediate these members, and slightly out of alinement therewith, is a third head member 13.
The holster, indicated as a whole by the numeral 14C, comprises the inner Wall 15, and the outer wall 16, properly secured along their long sides, and their lower ends, to form a pocket for receiving a revolver. The pocket is tapered toward its lower end, as shown, and on the upper end of the inner wall 15 there are formed the tabs 17 each having secured thereto the socket member 12, hereinbefore mentioned, which is engaged with one of the head members 11, of the belt, whereby to properly suspend the holster on the belt. The upper end of the other wall is extended to form a closure flap 18such flap being provided with a socket lnelnber 19 for engagement with the head member 13, of the belt. The closure flap 18 is in its closed position, when raised so that the member 19 engages with the member 13, whereby to serve as an additional means of suspension for the holster, and to sustain the weight of the firearm which will be within the holster. When the firearm is removed froln the holster, the weight of the holster will be properly supported by the tabs 17.
What is claimed is The combination with an apparel belt having portions of separable fasteners thereon in longitudinal alinement with respect to the greater dimension of the belt, of a holster adapted to receive a firearm including inner and outer walls, the upper end of the inner wall having portions of separable fasteners engaged with certain of the belt carried portions,'the upper end of the outer wall of the holster being formed with a closure flap arranged to extend upwardly across said belt, whenin closed position, and to hang below the belt when in open position, said flap having a fastener portion arranged to engage with another of the belt carried fastener portions whereby to aid in supporting the holster under the weight of a firearm contained within the holster.
In testimony whereof, l affix my signature.
RUFE SAR-SON.
