My invention relates to an ink pad.
The present invention is an improvement over the ink pads described in United States Patents, Nos. 1,421,952 and 1,429,354. Said patents relate to an ink. pad comprising a resilient base which has a shallow recess on;
top for the reception of an ink absorbent member. The edges of the ink absorbent member engage the under side of an inward ly'extending, horizontal flange. When it is desired to supply ink to the absorbent member it is'necessary to removethe absorbent member from beneath said flange in order to supply ink to the lower side of said .absorbent member. This operation is inconvenient, and it is the object of the present invention to provide means whereby ink may be supplied to the lower face of the absorbent member without the necessity of having to remove the same from its position. 7
With the above and other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
Referring to the drawings which form a part of this specificatioml have illustrated an ink pad embodying my invention and in.
Fig. 6 shows the detailed rear View of the ink port with its valve, with portions of the ink pad being broken away.
Referring to the drawings: 1 indicates a resilient base preferably made of rubber provided on its upper face with aflange 2 of inverted L-shape in cross section, which, provides a shallow recess 3 for the reception of an absorbent member 4 which may be of any convenient construction but is preferably made.

provide a port consisting of a rubber duct 9 preferably integral with the flange 2, the inner end 9 of the duct 9 projecting, terminating in a flat rubber Valve 9 which serves as a check valve to prevent the ink from flowing outwardly. through the duct 9.
By providing an ink supplying port in the flange 2 ink may be supplied through the can 8 with a spout as described without the inconvenience of lifting, the absorbent member I 4 out from its position and engagement with the flange 2.
Various changes may be made by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit of my invention as claimed.
I claim:
1. An ink pad comprising a base having a recess on top, a horizontal flange projecting inwardly from the upper margin of said resaid recess with its edge positioned beneath said horizontal flangeyand an ink supplying port in said flange communicating with the under side of said absorbentmember.
