Description

Jan. 5, 1932. R. J. BLITCH GOLF BAG CONSTRUCTION Filed Sept. 5, 1930 INVENTOR.
. J. GLITCH M A TTORNEY R BY Patented Jan. 5, 1932 UNITED STATES RUFUS J. BLITOH, OF SCOTIA, CALIFORNIA GOLF BAG CONSTRUCTION Application filed September 5, 1930. Serial No. 479,845.
This invention relates to improvements in golf bag construction.
The principal object of this invention is to produce a bag wherein the clubs maybe in- ,5 dividually positioned in the bag.
A further object is to produce a bag wherein the clubs are suspended from the head.
A further object is to produce a bag of this character which is simple in construction and economical to manufacture.
A further object is to produce a bag wherein the bag may be of light construction if desired. and yet one which will be sturdy.
A still further object is to produce a bag conforming to all standard practices.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent during the course of the following description.
In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification and in which like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same,
Figure 1 is a fragmentary side elevation of my bag showing a club positioned therein.
Figure 2 is an enlarged top plan view of my bag, and
Figure 3 is a plan view as the bag would appear in blank form. I
It is a well known fact that golf clubs shafts readily warp if they are allowed to rest upon the handles. Further, by providing separate compartments for the clubs, the
desired club may be readily selected with a minimum of delay. Further, by having the 5 clubs individually positioned in a bag, their original finish is preserved.
In the accompanying drawings wherein for the urpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention, the numeral 5 designates a bag as a whole which may be made of any desired material, the material being shown at 6 in Figure 3. Remforcing members 7 are attached to the body of the bag and serves to strengthen the bag from bottom to top. A ring 8 is positione upon the bag, which rin is formed of relatively thick material, an of relatively wide material. This ring might be termed a 50 doughnut shaped ring, and has formed upon its upper surfaces V shaped recesses 9. Cross braces 11 and 12 together with a ring 13 serve to form compartments, each compartment being adjacent one of the recesses 9,
'with the result that the handles of the clubs may be suspended in the compartments, 5:; while the head 14 (see Figurel) rest within one of the V recesses.
It will thus be seen that thru this construction, I have produced a golf bag which has all of the objects above set forth.
It is to be understood that the form of my invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same and that various changes relative to the material, size, shape and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claims.
Having thus described my invention, I claim 1. In combination with a golf bag of a doughnut shaped ring secured thereto, said ring having angularly disposed recesses formed therein for the reception of the heads of golf clubs suspended in said bag.
2. In combination with a golf bag of a plurality of cross pieces secured to one end of said bag, a doughnut shaped ring mounted on said cross pieces, said ring having angularly disposed recesses formed therein, said recesses being interspaced between said cross pieces.
In testimony whereof I ailix my signature.
