My invention relates to a barbers appliance, and has particular reference to such a device to be worn upon the shoulders of a person, when having their hair cut, for catching the cut hair, while not necessarily restricted to this use.

In accordance with my invention, I provide a frame which may be applied to the shoulders of a: person having their hair cut, or the m like. This frame is adjustable, so that it may be placed in position, and also so that it will fit the shoulders of different sizes. The frame surrounds the neck and is adapted to support a cover which will catch the hair, or the like.

This cover is, referably, flexible and is, pref erably, forme of rubber. By the use of the device, the cover may be maintained in a sanitary condition by washing ofi the same, thus dispensing with the employment of ordinary fabric aprons, which must be laundered when soiled. The cover is removable from the frame in a manner to hold the hair so that the hair may be dumped into a suitable receptacle, whereby the hair will not fall upbon #5 the floor, as is the usual practice in a bar er shop, necessitating frequent sweeping.

The device is of simple construction, is cheap to manufacture, light and convenient in use.

In the drawings, wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention, the numerals 10 and 11 designate frame sections, assembled to produce a supporting frame. The frame sections embody inner bars or strips 12, which are generally parallel, and extend forwardly and rearwardly of the user. These bars 12 con- 14 and 15 are connected by a transverse bar "the eye-s19 by soldering,

stitute shoulder bars, and are longitudinally curved in vertical planes, so that their inner portions correspond generally to the curvature of the shoulders, while their outer end portions 13 are bent upwardly, as shown.-

Each frame section further embodies preferably circularly curved spaced concentric bars or strips let and 15, which are connected with the shoulder bar 12, as shown. The bars 12,

and having itsoute'r end portion 17 bent upwardly, as clearly shown in Figure t. Each frame section further embodies a circularly curved bar or rod 18, held within loops or eyes 19, formed upon the ends of the shoul der bars 12, and the bars 16, as shown. These a marginal bars 18 may be rigidly held within 7 or the like. The bars 18 are circularly curved and disposed in spaced concentric relation to the bars 14 and 15. The marginal bar 18 of the frame section" 11, projects beyond the eyes 19 of the frame 12, in the form of connecting extensions 20, adapted to be slidably inserted within tubular sockets 21, rigidly attached to the ends of the arm 12 of the frame section 11,

The bar 12 of the frame section 11 is provided with connecting extensions22, rigidly attached thereto, and these connecting extensions are adapted to be slidably inserted within tubular sockets 23, carried by the bar 12 of the frame section 10. It is preferred to construct the frame sections of aluminum, due to its desired lightness and 'stifiness, and it is preferred that elements 12, 14, 15, and 16 be an integral. stamping, with connecting extensions 22 i'ntegral with the shoulder bar 12, of the frame section 11, and sockets 23 integral with the shoulder bar 12 of frame section 1O.

The marginal bars 11 of the assembled frame sections constitute a generally circular marginal element, arranged at an elevation above the assembled bars 15. As a result of this, and by virtue of the curvature of the bars 12 and16, the frame is provided upon the frame and will conform to the curvature of the same, by virtue of its flexibility, or, if desired, the cover may be shaped to conform accurately to the curvature of the frame.

In the use of the device, the frame sections are separated and are brought together upon opposite sidesof the neck of the user until the shoulder bars 12 rest upon the shoulders,

these shoulder bars extendin forwardly and rearwardly of the user. The connecting extensions 20 are introduced into the sockets 211 andthe connecting extensions 22 into the sockets 28, andthe two frame sections are then brought together, sufficiently, depending upon the size of the user.

The flexible cover 24 1s now passed about the neck of the user, above the supporting frame, and rests upon the supporting frame, the marginal edge of the cover extending slightly beyond the marginal'bars 18; This cover is flexible and will conform to the shape orcurvature of the supporting frame, which I will afford an outer annular pocket or trough for properly holding the cut hair. The de vice may be used with the ordinary rubber bib passed about the neck to prevent hair from falling down the neck. After the hair is cut, the bib is removed and the cover may ,be removed from the frame in a manner to prevent spilling of the hair, which may be discharged into a suitable receptacle. When desired, the cover. may be washed off, or otherwise, sterilized for maintaining the same sani tary. It is, thus, .seen that the use of fabric aprons which must be frequently laundered.

While I haveishown and described the device for use in connection with cutting hair, which is its principal use, it is not necessarily restricted to this use.

A device to be used in cutting hair, or the like, comprising a light open frame to be entirely supported by the shoulders, comprising a pair of frame sections, each frame section including an inner shoulder engaging strip which is longitudinally curved in a ver tical plane with its concave side arranged lowermost to generally conform to the curvature of the shoulder, spaced concentric strips having their ends attached to the shoulder engaging strip, an intermediate strip connecting the shoulder engaging strip and the curved strips, the ends of the shoulder env gaging strip and the curved strip being bent upwardly, and means for detachably connecting both end of the frame sections so that they can be entirely separated and subsequently secured together.

A device to be used in cutting hair, or the like, comprising a light open frame to be entirely supported by the shoulders, comprising a pair of frame sections, each frame section including an inner shoulder engaging stri which is lon itudinall curved in a ver-' tical plane with its concave side arranged lowermost to generally conform to the curva- V ture of the shoulder, spaced concentric strips having their ends attached to the shoulder engaging strip, an intermediate strip connecting the shoulder engaging strip and the curved strips, the ends of the shoulder engaging strip and the curved strip being bent upwardly, extensions secured toone shoulder engaging strip and projecting inwardly beyond the same, and sockets securedio the .other shoulder engaging strip for slidably receiving said extensions.
