Referring to the drawings, the device is shown to include an intermediate casing 7 in the upper portion of which is inserted a lock collar 8 through which slidably passes an operating shaft 9.
Attached to the lower end of the shaft 9 is a plate 10 having an upturned portion 11 to which is attached a knife blade 12, and an upturned portion 13 having a right angular flange 14-. A pad 15 preferably of rubber, is attached to the underside of the plate 10.
Attached to a loop 16 an integral part of the plate 10, is one end of the tension springs 17, having their other ends connected with a pin 18 mounted in the walls of the casing.

By this means the stamps are accuratelyfed downward since there will be no feeding movement until the fingers 26 have engaged a row of perforations 49. When the arm 23 is moved down a predetermined distance, that is the distance between perforations in the stamp strip, into a position as shown in Figure 5, directly beneath the rubber pad 15, the pin 19 becomes disengaged from'the notch20' on account of the angular change of the position of the pivot pin 22, and springs 25 return the yoke arms 23 and levers21 to their initial position.
As the plunger moves downwardly the compression spring40, in conjunction. with springs 25 the ends of which are secured'to the levers 21 and to theprongs 53 on bridge '38, force the plunger 39 downwardly to a position whereby the Chamois piston 44 will not cover the opening to tube 43 in the cylinder 42, and water surrounding the'reduced portion 45 of the plunger 41 is forced through tube 43 on to the surface to which the stamp is 'At the same time the plunger 9 continues .downwardy and, the knife blades 12 and 37 shear-the stamp off at. the point 52 along the line of perforations 49,-andthe pad 15 presses the stamp firmly upon the moistened surface.
