A lock including, in combination, a casing formed with an opening, a bolt extendable through said opening, said casing to be applied to a closure adjacent oneof the edges thereof and with its opening extending towards saidredge, a key operated mechanism, a knob, said knobv and mechanism 0ccupying predetermined positions irrespective of whether the casing Ais disposed adjacent one or the other edge of said closure, and similar means for interchangeably accommod ating both said mechanismand knob according to the positionof saidcasing with respect to said closure, andv said means serving to connect both said mechanism and knob to said bolt whereby projection and retraction of the latter may be effected.
18. A lock including, incombination, a
v casing formed with an opening, a bolt eX- tendable through said opening, said casing to be applied to a closure adjacent one of the edges thereof and with its opening extending towards said edge, a key operated mechanism, a knob, said knob and mechanism occupying predetermined positions irrespective of whether the casing is disposed adjacent one or the other edge of said closure, and similar means for interchangeably accommodating both said mechanism and'knob according to the position of said casing with respect to said closure, and said means serving to connect said mechanism and knob to said bolt whereby projection and retraction of the latter maybe effected, and means for rendering' said knob inoperative to elfect a retraction of said bolt.
