and also permit the arrangement with the stop strip to prevent entrance of weather.
The longitudinally adjustable hinges are of novel construction and may be locked in their several positions of adjustment so that a window or other closure carried therebymaybe retained for swinging or hinglng purposes,
in either a raised or lowered position. Furthermore, the improved casement wlndow and hinges therefor are of simple and novel construction, require no undue modification of a standard window casing, and are well adapted for the purposes set forth.
What I claim as my invention is: 1. A sliding hinge, comprising a pair of plates, a pivot bolt hingedly joining the same 7 and permitting sliding movement of one plate on saidbolt and with respect to the other plate, and a latch member pivotally carried by said pivot bolt and positionable to engage said slidable plate and prevent sliding'movement of the same.
2. A sliding hinge, comprising a plate havplate and of less length than the space between the same, a pivot bolt extending through all of said bosses, and a latch member pivotally attached to the bolt and movable to engage an intermediate portion of the bolt between one boss of the first plate and the boss of the second plate.
