particularlyadapted for use in supporting.
pails and similar containers for use in yfeeding live stock, although it can be used for' a great many other purposes, such yas supporti ying painters pails and the like.
j V'Another object of the invention is the pro-V` Avision. of apail holder which has in connection therewith a top'piece adapted to be` iitted l over the top of the pail and engaged with pory. tions of the holder andthe pailfor partially covering the pail or other vcontainerin the holder when it -is desired to support water containers Withinthe pail holder for use in f Vchicken pens so that the 4device can be used il? as vva water container forchickens and prevents chickens from putting their feet in the 'Y waterin the container. y n
Y A further object of the invention isthe provision of apail holder whichis so construct-ed asto be provided with means whereby the holder can be quickly andk readily attached to a rail of a fence or other similar .support for supporting the holder in upright position readyfor use, and at Ythe same 139 time can be quickly removed when so desired. Vith the above and otherobjects in view, -the invention consists in the novel features of construction, the combination yand arrangement of part-s hereinafter more fully set forth, pointed out in the claim and shown f in the accompanying drawings wherein:
y lFigure l is a side elevation offa pail holder constructed in accordance with my invention ywith parts thereof broken away and illustrated,` in cross section Figure 2 is a topplan view; and, Figure 3 is a transverse sectional view. Referring more particularly to the drawu ings, wherein l have illustrated the applicanoted that theV body of the holderis formed of twovVU-shaped membersV l and 2, vrespectively. The U-shaped member lhas its arms disposed at a slight angle with respect to the intermediate portion and one of .the arms tion of `my improved pail holder, it will be Vhas-at its upper end an outturned portion 3 whichforms acam-lile flange for guiding the pail or other container within the arms.
The second arm of the U-'shaped member l is of greater length than the first arm and is bent'upon itself to form a hook-like member l which can `be engaged over a board 5 or any other 'suitable support to support the entire pailholderfor use.
LThe U-shaped member 2 has its arms eX- tending upwardly and slightly at an outward incline to correspond to thek inclination 'of the arms of the U-shaped member l and the member 2 is disposed at right angles to the member l with its intermediate portion engaging the intermediate portion of the member l at its central part and secured thereto means of a rivet 6, although other suitable fastening means may be used.
l In orderto securely hold the arms of the U-shaped members in their proper relative positions, I provide la band 7 which extends around the arms of the U-shaped members l and 2 at'a point above the intermediate portions thereof, the band being approximately arranged intermediate the arms of the U- shaped member l and adjacent the upper ends of the U-shaped member 2. The ends of the band 7 areoverlapped, as shown in Figures l and 3,' and secured to one of the arms of the memb-er'l by means of a rivet 8, other rivets Sconnecting theband to the arms to the two tl-shaped members.
It willy be noted that the arms of the U- shaped member 2 are somewhat shorter than the-arms of the member l, so as to leave suflicient space for the movement of a bail or 'the like as illustrated in Figure-1, and
` the member l and extended through the support Ifor securely holding the pail holder against moveinentrelative to its support.
lt will be noted from the foregoing that after theholder has been secured inl-position upon any suitable type' of support, a pail can lie-readily positioned between the arms of the members l and 2 and within the band 7, the bottom of the pail resting upon the in- "'10 .Y .u Y y.
