This inventionrelates toa dobby loom and particularly to improvements in the construction of the mechanism for drivinga dobby thereon. Referring to the drawings, I have shown parts of a dobby loom including a loom frame on'which a dobby A is mounted in the usual manner.
The dobby shown in the drawings is of a i p p p and a front portion, 63 andissecured to the common commercial type and includes a pattern cylinder 12 by which a pattern chain 13 is intermittently advanced. The cylinder 12 is mounted on a shaft 14 provided with a. worm gear 15 intermittently rotated by a dwell worm 16 mounted'on a short horizontal shaft 17 (Fig. 2). vided with a sprocket 18 engaged by a chain 20 which is continuouslydriven bymechanism to be described. 7

The gear guard 60 may then be adjusted and securedby boltfie and theidle sprocket 52 may be adjusted in the slot to engage the chain 20 and take up the slack thereof.
I am thus able to provide a positive driving connection between the main crankshaft 36, the horizontal dobby shaft 1? and the rocker arm 22, regardless of the width of the dobby, which may vary all the way from twelve to thirty harnesses.
By this construction, the adaptation of the loom to dobbies of different widths is facilitated and the number of necessary patterns and reserve parts is greatly reduced, as a single set of parts provides driving connections for dobbies of any desired width.
Having thus described my invention and the advantages thereof, I do not wish to be limited to the details herein disclosed, otherwise than as set forth in the claims, but what I claim is 1. In a dobby loom having a loom side and a main driving shaft, in combination, a crankshaft geared to said main shaft, driving connections from said crank shaft to said dobby, a bearing for said crankshaft, a stand for said bearing angularly adjustable about the axis of said main driving shaft, and means to secure said stand to said loom side.
2. The combination in a dobby loom as set forth in claim 1, in which the crankshaft is connected to the dobby by a link and in which said link is provided with means whereby its effective length may be variably adjusted.
3. The combination in a dobby loom as set forth in claim 1, in which a gear guard is provided, said guard being adjustable to any selected position of said crankshaft and bearing stand, and in which means is provided for securing said guard in adjusted position.
4;. The combination in a dobby loom as set forth in claim 1, in which the crankshaft is connected to the dobby by a sprocket chain and in which an idler wheel is provided for taking up the slack in said chain.
5. The combination in a dobby loom as set forth in claim 1, in which a series of slots is provided in the loom side and in which clamping bolts are inserted in said slots to secure the bearing stand in-a selected angular position.
6. In a loom, a dobby having a rotating member, a main driving shaft, and geared rotating driving connections from said shaft to said dobby, said connections being adjustable in length and variable in angle of application between said driving shaft and said rotatable dobby member and thereby effective to drive dobbies of different widths.
7 In a loom, a dobby having a pattern cylinder, a shaft connected to drive said cylinder, a. sprocket on said shaft, a main driving shaft, an intermediate shaft geared thereto,
a bearing for said intermediate shaft angu larly adjustable about the axis of said main shaft, a sprocket on said intermediate shaft, a chain connecting said two sprockets, and
means to take up slack in said chain as the position of said intermediate shaft is selectively adjusted.
8. In a loom, a driving shaft, a warp controlling mechanism, a driving pinion on the shaft, a gear meshing therewith, a radius arm concentric with the shaft and movable to a plurality of angular positions relatively thereto, the gear being mounted on and moving with the radius arm and meshing with the pinion in all angular positions, and a connector between the gear and the controlling mechanism.
9. In a loom, a plurality of harness controlling devices, an actuator adapted to be operatively related to any one of said devices, said actuator being capable of assuming different positions depending upon the number of devices, a driving shaft, and connections between the actuator and the shaft movable relatively to a loom side to assume different positions dependent upon the location of the actuator.
10. In a loom to operate with any one of a plurality of harness controlling mechanisms of different sizes, a driving shaft, a frame sup porting the shaft and mechanism, a train of devices to communicate power from the shaft to the mechanism, and means to hold a portion of said train in a plurality of positions, dependent upon the size of the harness controlling mechanism, the train being operatively connected to the shaft for all positions of the said portion thereof.
