Description

.411.v REsNATl Aug. 18, 1931.
CONTAINER AND PACKING SYSTEM FOR /POLISHING CLOTHS lPatented Aug. 18, 1931 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE ALDO RESNATI, OF MONZA, MILAN, ITALY CONTAINER AND PACKING SYSTEM FOR POLISHING CLOTHS The presentV invention relates to a container and packing system for polishing cloths, according to which the said cloths are assembled together in any desired number in such a manner as to be possible, when it is necessary, to easily take out a cloth from the whole thus formed, without throwing into disorder the acket of the remaining cloths.
T iis system substantially consists in pre paring at first the cloths in the form of strips,
in winding then the said strips in such a manner as to obtain a continuous coil by which one of the ends of each cloth is put upon the opposed end of the adjacent cloth and in enclosing at last the said coil within a container in such a manner that the end of the coil projects from the whole so that the end cloth may be drawn out when it is desired.
Said container may be formed for instance by a suitable box having the bottom or the cover provided with an opening from which the end of the coil, namely, a skirt of the last of the cloths composing the same, comes out.
Thus when the end of the last cloth projecting from the box is drawn out, not only the said cloth is separated from the others and made free for use, but the end of the following cloth is also withdrawn from the box, so that this cloth may be in a position to be entirely withdrawn, when it is desired to use the same.
The box forming the wrapper of the cloths may be made of any suitable material, as paste-board, sheet-tin, Celluloid or the like and carry any distinguishing mark lor a description of the number and the quality of the cloths contained in the same.
In either case the cloths are not pressed, as by other packing systems at present in use, but simply stretched, so that they maintain unaltered the properties of absorption and softness necessary for their use.
The annexed drawings illustrate by way of example a manner of reducing the invention to practice, in the case where a coil formed by the cloths is contained in a box.
In the said drawings:
Figure l shows a round container or box partly in elevation and partly in section on the line A B C D E of Fig. 2.
Figure 2 is a plan view of the container or box, the lid or cover in the right half being removed.
l is the round container or box, 2 is its lid or cover with a hole 3 in the middle. A num- 55 ber of strips 4 are provided in the container or box and are wound to form a continuous coil so that the abutting transverse edges engage over two successive strips as indicated by 6, 7 in the right half of Figure 1. An end 5 G0 of the innermost strip of the coil in the container or box projects through the hole 3. By taking hold of the said end the innermost strip can be drawn out of the container or box and the end of the next following strip is also withdrawn to a position where it may be easily engaged when it is desired to use the same. This system of packing strips is mainly advantageous for use in industrial works, stores, warehouses and the like.
The coil formed by the wound strips may be preferably held together by placing a band, cord or the like (not shown) around the same.
It is to be understood that the particulars Y of either formand construction of the wrapper or execution of the system may vary from that illustrated and described without coming out from the field of the invention.
Having now particularly described and 30 ascertained the nature ofmy invention and in what manner it may be performed, I declare that what I claim is:
A dispensing device of the class described in combination, a dispensing box having a central aperture in its top, a roll composed of single cloths within the box, each having their single half portion folded within the half portion of the succeeding cloth, and the end of the coil being adapted to protrude through the box aperture, whereby when one cloth is withdrawn, a portion of the end of each succeeding cloth is partially withdrawn, ready to be easily released from the coil within the box. In testimony whereof I aiix my signature.
ALDO RESNATI.
