Description

July 14, 1931. c. H. BoRsT HOT WATERl BOTTLE Filed Feb. 8. 1930 Patented July 14, 1931 UNITED STATES CHARLES H. BoRsT, or cUYAHoGA rALLs, 01H10 Ho'r WATER. :BOTTLE Application led February 8, 1930. Serial No. 426,956.
rlhis invention relates to hot water bottles or similar containers, the primary object of the invention being to provide novel means whereby the bottle, which is constructed ,f preferably of elastic material, will retain its original contour when in use.
YAnother object of the invention is to provide means disposed within the water bottle and secured to the sides thereof to insure 310 against lateral elongation or stretching of the rubber, by the stays.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character which will reinforce the sides of the water bottle le to prevent spreading of the water bottle.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and 'in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Referring to the drawings:
Figurel is a view illustrating a water bottle constructed in accordance with the invention, a portion of the side being broken away to illustrate the interior construction of the bottle.
Figure 2 is a sectional view taken on line 2-2 of Figure l.
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken on line 3-3 of Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a fragmental sectional view through a modied form of water bottle.
Figure 5 is a fragmental sectional view taken at right angles to Figure 4. p
Referring to the drawings in detail, the body portion of the water bottle is indicated fgenerally by the reference character 5, the same being constructed preferably of rubber and provided with a filling neck 6 and stopper, not shown.
In the construction of the body portion of the bottle, reinforcing ribs 7 are provided, the ribs extending transversely of the body portion and arranged in parallel spaced relation with each other. The reference character 10 designatesstrips of nonystretchable rubberized fabric cut in widths .to fit between the reinforcing ribs 7, as clearly shown by Figure 2 of the drawings, where the strips 10 are cemented and vulcanized in position, in the finalcuring of the bottle.
cord stays 12, whichstays have their ends passed through the fabric strips and secured to the strips, the ends of the cords extending laterally, as clearly shown by Figure 1 of the drawings.
The cords of which the stays are constructed, are encased in tubular housings 11 which are connected to the strips of rubberized fabric, before the stripsv of rubberized fabric are positioned between the walls of the bottle.
Inthe form of the invention, as shown by Figures 4 and 5 of the drawings, the stays which are indicated by the reference character 13, are formed preferably of lengths of fabric material, secured to the inner surfaces of the body portion as by vulcanizing or cementing. The stays 13 may be arranged in any desired manner within the body portion, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
From the foregoing it will be obvious that due to the construction shown and described, a water bottle is provided wherein the sides thereof will be held in predetermined spaced relation with each other at all times, eliminating any possibility of the water contained in the body portion, bulging the body portion while in use.
A water bottle of this character may be heldin a certain positionon the body of the user without danger of the water in the bottle 'flowing to one end of the bottle and overbalancing the bottle to cause it to slide from the body of the user.
I claim:
1. Ahot water bottle comprising a body portion formed of flexible material, stays embodying cords embedded in non-elastic material and secured to the sides of the body portion, and said stays being arranged in spaced relation with each other through- Vzo out the length of the body portion to hold the sides of the body portion against movement beyond a predetermined point.
2. A hot Water bottle comprising a body portion, pairs of spaced ribs formed on the inner sides of the body portion, strips of non-elastic material secured between the pairs ofribs,v andi non-elastic stafys connected with the strips to hold'tl'ie strips against movement away from each other.
3. A hot Water bottle comprising a; bod-y portion formed of exible material, pairs of spaced ribs formed on the innen surface.
of the body portion and disposed transversely of the body portion-i stripsy oitv non stretchable; material secured between the ribs of each pair, non-stretchable stays secured to the. strips andv arranged in spaced relation with each other to prevent the sides of' the body portion from bulging. i
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto aiiized my signature;
H. BoRsT.
