This invention relates to robes, particularly sleeping robes and foot robes, such as infants sleeping bags, campers sleeping bags and foot warmers.

It is an object of my invention to provide a robe in the nature of a sleeping bag, either for infants, adults or the like, which may also be used as a foot wrap or limb covering. It is contemplated by my invention to provide a garment in the nature of a sleeping bag or robe which may be enveloped about the entire body of a wearer,-either an infant or an adult, when used as a sleeping robe or merely about the limbs, warmer, and obtain the ability to adjust the robe to the variations in the contour of the body It is still further contemplated by my invention to provide a robe in the nature of a sleeping bag or foot warmer which has a combined closure, parts of which may be arranged for rapid opening and closing of the garment, in the nature of a slide fastener type of closure, the other part being an adjustable closure, whereby the garment may be adjusted to the size and contour of the body of the wearer and movement of the individual when wearing the garment, without opening the first closure.

It is a still further object of my invention to provide a robe or sleeping bag including a closure therefor and combined slide-actuated inter-locking fasteners to secure the edges of the closure and adjustable fastening means for other portions to permit adjustability-of the garment'and to assure against accidental opening of the edges at the portion closed by the slide-actuated interlocking fastener.

Other objects of my invention reside in the provision of a robe in the nature of a sleeping ag or foot warmer having a slide-actuated inter-locking fastener, which will assure against contact against the metal portions thereof by the wearer and which will provide a tight and weatherproof garment, especially at those portions of the opening which are closed by the slide-actuated, inter-locking fasteners.

Other objects of my invention reside in the provision ,of a sleeping bag or robe in the nature of a foot warmer which is simple in construction, characterized by ready detachability and opening'and closing in placing the same upon the body of the wearer or any portion thereof.

To attain these objects and such other objects as may appear herein or be hereinafter pointed out, I make reference to the accompanying drawing, forming a part hereof, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of my device;

Figure 2 is a section taken on the line 22 of Figure 1.

Making reference to the drawings, it will be observed that my device takes on the nature of an envelope 10, out from a blank of material 11 which may be folded in general cylindrical form, with the edges 12, 13 con tacting with each other. At the bottom edge 14 there is affixed a circular bottom 15 by sewing the same along stitch lines 16, shown in double dotted line in Figure 1. Exteriorly of the cylindrical member so constructed and adjacent the edges 12 and 13 thereof, I affix the strips or stringers 17 and 18 upon which are mounted the complemental, interlocking fasteners 19 of the general type referred to in the patent to Prentice 1,658,392, operable by a slide 20 to arrange the inter-locking fastening elements into engaging or disengaging position to bring the edges 12 and 13 in contact with each other or release the same. The extreme lower edge of the stringers adjacent the fasteners are bridged by a stop 21 to limit the sliding movement of the slider 20. It 1s contemplated by my invention to aflix the stringers 17 and 18 adjacent the edges 12 and 13 by stitching 22 and 23 at a point to br ng the edges 12 and 13 into actual contacting position, as more clearly shown for purposes which will appear as this description proceeds.

The strips 17 and 18 are arranged along the edges 12 and 13 from the bottom upwardly for a portion of their length, leaving the sections 24 and 25 uncovered and without the in Figure 2, more clearly tape 27 in the nature of satin ribbon or the like. Adjacent the edges 24 and 25, I provide closure strips or ribbons 28 and 29. These are aflixed-to the body of the fabric by stitching 5 30 and 31, respectively.

By the construction shown I have provided an open ended bag whose configuration perinits considerable freedom of movement to the wearer, especially where the same is to be m placed about the limbs of an individual to be used in the nature of a foot warmer as the bottom will space the walls of the bag to. give the desired freedom to the feet. The device may be used as a sleeping bag for in- 15 fants and by the closure provided, the bag may be opened and closed with considerable ra idity and facility.

y providing the combined closures in the nature of the inter-locking fastening elements and the ribbons 28 and 29, the lower portion of the robe may be quickly opened and closed and I may use inter-locking fastening elements which will draw the edges 12 and 13 rigidly together and also give the bag adjustability and flexibility as the ribbons 28 and 29 may be used to draw the edges 24 and 25 towards each otheriin accordance with the contour of the body of the'wearer of the device. This combined closure for the bag also per- 30 mits of great flexibility of the upper portion of the bag so that when used as a foot warmer and as a substitute for a blanket when one attends outdoor sports, such as football games, the freedom of movement will be obtained without accidental openin of the inter-locking fastening elements w ich do not have the same flexibility as the fabric upon which they are mounted.

It will also be observed that though I contemplate making the body of the device of any fabric material, it is preferred that the ments including a slide therefor serving to bring said edges into open or-contact engagement, said stringers being fastened at spaced points from said edges, the combined width of said spaced portions being greater than the combined width of the stringers when engaged, whereby the edges of the fabric are contacted into compressed engagement overcoming the inherent resiliency of the fabric and covering the stringers, and flexible adjustable fastening means for the other portions of said longitudinal edges adjacent the top of the bag whereby the top of the bag may be fastened. v

This type of fabric will not only give the requisite warmth but when used in combination with the inter-locking fastener elements described, the contacting edges thereof as shown inFigure 2 will serve as an effective closure for the slit formed by the stringers 17 and 18 and the spaced metallic inter locln'ng hooks. In this manner, not only is the body of the wearer protected against contact with the metallic parts of the closure-but the slit of the closure is sealed against the outer elements.

Having thus described my invention and illustrated its use, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
