Patented June 2, 1931 UNITED STATES MILTON POLACEK AND EGON POLACEK, F CLEVELAND OHIO BABY BATH Application filed April 25,
This invention relates to baby bath appliances.
The general purpose of the invention is to provide a simple, effective construction for baby bath appliances including the provision of a frame supporting a flexible collapsible container for the bath water and adapted for easy application to a suitable support as, for example, on top of a bath tub. I
A particular object of the invention is to provide a second frame associated with the device and adapted to be thrown back out of the way when the baby is being bathed and to be moved over the container frame and 15 supporting a canvas cover or pad to receive the baby for drying and completing its toilet, the second frame being rotatable on the con tainer frame to facilitate handling of the infant.
A further object is to provide in association with said device suitable receptacles for accessories used in washing and dressing the baby.
A further object of the invention is to pro- 25 vide a bathing appliance such as described in the preceding paragraphs which will be collapsible into a compact form easily handled and adapted to be hung or placed in a closet or other place out of the way when notin use. 30 I The foregoing and other objects of the invention are attained in the baby bathing appliance illustrated in the accompanying drawings and described below. It is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the particular form thereof shown and described.
Of the accompanying drawings,
Figure 1 is an elevation of a portion of a bath tub illustrating a baby bathing appliance embodying the invention mounted thereon for use in bathing the baby.
Figure 2 is a section on line 22 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a plan of the device, the device being shown as used for drying the baby and completing its toilet.
Figure 4 is a section on line 44 of Figure 3, an

for rotatably supporting the auxiliary frame 4 onwhich the baby is dried and dressed.
Referring to the drawings, the numeral 10- designates a frame, having secured therein a flexible bag-like container 11 of waterproof material such as rubberized fabric, said container having a flexible hose 12 connected to the bottom thereof preferably through a valve 13, said hose having a fitting 14 thereonadapted to be connected to the spigot of a bath tub, a clip 12 on said hose providing in eflect a valve which may be used to prevent drainage of Water from the container until the babys bath is completed.
The frame 10 is provided with a member 15 preferably shaped to fit over the front edge of a bath tub as indicated at 16 and arms 17, 17 yieldingly telescoped into the rear of frame 10 by springs 18, 18: are arranged to be en- 7 gaged over the back edge of a bath tub.
Hinged onto the rear edge of frame 10 are a pair of bracket members 19, 19 provided with bearings 20, 20 formed to embrace annulus 21 retained in said brackets but circumferentially shiftable therein, said annulus supporting an auxiliary frame 22. Hinged bracket members 19 are arranged to seat on top of the frame 10 when the auxiliary frame 22 is swung down to a position of use, and bracket members 23, 23 on the front of frame 10, preferably hinged so as to be arranged to' be swung down out of the way while the baby is being washed, are provided with bearings for the annulus 21 at the front of the frame 10. Accordingly, frame 22 is not only hinged to,'but is adapted to be rotated about on frame 10 when swung into cooperation therewith. Frame 22 may be provided with a canvas cover or pad 24 reinforced by strips 25, 25 to prevent its sagging ontothe annulus 21.
It will be noted that the portion of annulus 21 projecting beyond frame 10 at 21 provides an effective handle for carrying-the device in folded condition. The frame 10 may have suitable receptacles 26, 26 suspended therefrom, and, a receptacle-supporting, and pin receiver frame 27 maybe hinged at the rear of frame 22 so as to be swung upwardly into a position for use as indicated in Figures 3 and 4.
In the use of the device, the arms 17 may be first engaged over the rear edge of a bath tub and the structure drawn forwardly against the action of springs 18 and member 15 engaged over thefront edge of the tub. The frame 22 is thrown back and fitting 1a is connected to a spigot to supply Water to container 11 through l1ose.l2,the water flowing in from the bottom of thecontainer whereby it does not splash. The clip 12 is actuated to close the hose after the water is cut offend the fitting 14 is released from the spigot when desired so that upon release of the clip 12 after the bath, the container 11 will drain.
After the baby has been bathed the frame 22 is swung down onto the container frame 10, brackets 23, which are swung forwardly out of the way when thebaby is bathed being.
springs 18 and it is .thenhung .or placed at some convenient point out of the way. 7 o
It will bevapparent from the foregoing that a simple effective baby bath appliance has been provided by'the invention. Obviously modifications thereof may be resorted to withv out departing from the spirit thereof. or the scope of the=appended claims. What is claimed is: H V p 1. A baby bath appliance comprising a container including a frame,a second frame associatedtherewith and supporting apad for receivinga baby for drying and dressing, said second frame being movableoffthe container: frame to'a TIODOiSStIUCUVB pOSltlOn whensaiid' container is in use and beingrotatable substantially about its. geometrical axis on the container frame when moved onto thereon" tainer frame for use.
i 2. Ababy bath appliance comprisingacon 'tainer including .affram e, a second frame hinged on said 'first named to swlng upward-c ly from said first named frame and supporting a pad for receiving a babyfor drying'and dressing said second frame being movable off the containerframe to a -non-obstructive position when not in use and'being rotatable on the container frame when iii-use.
3. In a'baby bath appha-nce'including a container frame andasecond frame supportit has been washed, of means for hingedly mg a drying pad to receive the. baby after and rotatably mounting the second frame on the container frame including an annulus on which the second frame is mounted, brackets at the rear ofthe container frame on which the annulus is hinged so as to be circumferentially shiftable in the brackets, and brackets for 'removably receiving the annulus at the frontof the container frame, said annulus being circumferentially shiftable in the lastnamed brackets, said last named bracketsb'eingnnounted so as to be moved below the edge of the container frame'when notin use;
.L ln a baby bath appliance including a container frame and a second frame supportinga drying pad to receive the baby after it has been washed, of means for hingedly and rotatably mounting the second frame on the container frame including an: annulus onwhich the secondframe is mounted, lbrackets at the rear of the container frame on urhich the annulus ishinged so as to be circumfer-. entially shiftableyin the brackets, and brackets for removably receiving the annulus at thefront of the containerframe, saidannulus being circumferentially. shiftable in the last named brackets.
container frame'anda second frame supporting-a dryingpad to receive the baby :after it has been washed, of means for hingedly and rotatably mounting thev second frame on the container frame including an annulus on which the second frame is mounted, brackets at the rear of the container frame on which the annulus is hinged soas; tobe circumferentially shiftable in the brackets, and-brackets for reniovably receiving the annulus at thefront ofv the containerframdsaid :annulns being circumferentiallv shiftable inthe last named brackets; said annulus where it extends be- 7 yondthe container frame at the edge on which the-pad frame is hinged providing a handle for carryingthedevice when folded.
