CONTAINER Application filed September 1, 1928. Serial No. 303.577.
This invention relates to a container such as a can for holding milk, vegetables and the like and more to a can having compartments therein.
One object of the invention is to-provide a can with compartments therein, whereby one compartment may be emptied and used and the other compartment will remain closed and air tight.
Another object of this invention is to provide a can with a partition therein to form a compartment in each end of the can.
Another object is to provide a can whereby food placed therein will not be wasted, as in many cases there is more food placed in a can than can be used at one time and if let stand will spoil.
With these and other objects in view the invention is comprised of the novel construction to be hereinafter described and claimed.
Referring to the drawing:
Figure 1 is a vertical section of a can A with its end covers removed.
Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the invention after completion.
Fig. 3 is a section on line 3-3, Fig. 4.
Fig. 4 is a bottom view of Fig. 3 which forms the partition 2. r
The reference character A denot'es the side of a can, B theupper compartment, C the lower compartment which are formed by the partition 2 being placed into the can. The numeral 1 denotes the sea of the can, 3 the crimp placed in the walls of the can and the flange 6 of the partition 2 for holding the partition firmly to the can, and 5 denotes the flanges on the covers 4 and 8 to which solder is applied for securing the cover to the can.
After the partition has been placed into the can and before the end covers are placed thereon, the can is placed into a crimping machine and the crimp 3 is formed therein which holds the partition air tight to the can.
The partition can also be soldered to the can if so desired.
After the partition has been placed as st'ated above the can is ready for filling. The
compartment B is filled and the cover 8 so tween them.
