My invention relates to hoisting mechanisms. a
An object of my invention is to provide an improved hoisting mechanism. Another object of my invention is to provide an improved hoisting mechanism having improved driving means therefor. A. further objectof my invention is to provide animproved hoisting mechanism having improved transmission means between the driving motor and the drum. A still further object of my invention is to provide an improved hoisting mechanism having improved ratchet and a pawl reduction mechanism between the drivin motor and the drum. These and other objects and advantages of my invention will, however, hereinafter more fully appear.
In the accompanying; drawings I have shown for purposes of illustration one-form which my invention may assume in practice. In these drawings,- i Fig. 1 is a central longitudinal vertical sectional view, partially in elevation, of the hoisting mechanism in which my improved transmission mechanism is incorporated.
Fig. 2 is a transverse verticalsectional view taken substantially on line 22 of Fig. 1, parts being omitted to facilitate illustration. Fig. 3 is a detail view of a portion of my improved transmission mechanism;
In this illustrative form of my'invention, I have shown a frame 1 provided with stand? ards 2 and 3 on which stub shafts 4 and 5 are suitably journal'ed, the latter being journaled in bearings 6. The shafts 4 and 5 are formed integral with head members 7 8 suitably secured as by bolts to a drum 9, the shaft 5 being connected to the member 8 by means of radially spaced arms, as illustrated. The drum 9 is provided with bores 10 and 11 the endsof which are closed by the head members 7 and 8 and in which a pressure fluid actuated motor, generally designated 12, is disposed' which may be of any suitable type but which herein comprises a pair of intermeshing helical tooth rotors 13 and 14 rotating in parallel relation. The motor 12 is adapted to drive the drum 9 through a transmission mechanism of improved form.

served that the rotors 13 and 14 are provided with parallel longitudinallyextending.
As a result of my improvement it will be noted that I have provided a powerful transmission mechanism of exceedingly simple and compact form which greatly reduces the overall length and weight of the hoisting mechanism and which may be applied to a hoisting mechanism of standard form with a minimum of change. It will also be observed that by means of my improved ratchet and pawl reduction mechanism the use of expensive spur tooth reduction gearing is entirely eliminated and that a flexible control of the hoisting mechanism is obtained by means of the brake band and the reaction controlling member.
lVhile I have in this application specifically described one form which my invention may assume in practice, it will be understood that this form of the same is shown for purposes of illustration and that the invention may be modified and embodied in various other forms without departing from its spirit or the scope of the appended claims.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a power transmission mechanism, a rotatably supported member and means for rotating the same con'iprising a normally stationary reaction member, driving elements coacting with said stationary member, and means carried by said rotatably supported member for intermittently actuating said driving elements comprising a separate eccentric member and connections actuated thereby for actuatin each driving element, said eccentric members being arranged on axes oiiset from the axis of revolution of said rotatably supported member.
2. A power transmission mechanism comprising a pair of members one of which is rotatable relative to the other, and means for producing said relative rotation comprising driving elements coacting with one of said members and supported by the other member,
and means for actuating said driving elements comprising toggle links, eccentric members operatively connected to the mid pivots of said toggles for actuating said links, and means for driving said eccentric members.
3. A power transmission mechanism comprising a pair of members one of which is rotatable relative to the other, and means for producing said relative rotation comprising reciprocable driving elements coacting with one of said members and supported and guided by the other member, and means for reciprocating said driving elements comprising toggle links, eccentric members operatively connected to the mid pivots of said toggles for actuating said links, and means for driving said eccentric members.
4c. A power transmission mechanism comprising a pair of members one of which is rotatable relative to the other, and means for producing said relative rotation comprising driving elements coacting with one of .aid members and supported by the other member, and means for actuating said driving elements comprising toggle links, eccentric members for actuating said links, and means carried by said relatively rotatable member for driving said-eccentric members.
5. A power transmission mechanism comprising relatively movable members one of which is a frictionally controlled reaction member, driving elements coacting with said reaction member and supported and guided by the other member for causing said relative movement, and means for actuating said driving elements comprising toggle links, eccentrio members for actuating said links, and means for driving said eccentric members.
6. A power transmission mechanism comprising a pair of members one of which is rotatable relative to the other and the other of which is normally stationary, and means for producing said relative rotation comprising driving elements coaeting with one of said members and supported by the other memher, and means for actuating said driving elements comprising pivotally connected toggle links certainof which are operatively connected to said driving elements, eccentric members operatively connected to the mid pivots of said toggles for actuating said links, and means for driving said eccentric members. i V

A power transmission mechanism con prising a pair of members one of which is rotatable relative to the other and the other of which is normally stationary, and means for producing said relative rotation comprising a driving element coacting with one of said members and supported by the other member, and means for actuating said driving element comprising pivotally connected links, certain of which are operatively connected to said driving element, an eccentric member for actuating said links, and means carried by said rotatable member for driving said eccentric members p 8. 9. A power transmission mechanism comprising a rotatably supported member and means for rotating the samecomprising a stationary member,a driving element coacting with said stationary member and sup-.

A power transmissioii mechanism comprising a rotatably supported member and means for rotating the same comprising a stationary member, rcciprocable driving elements coactingwith said stationary member and supported andguided by said rotatable member, and means carried by said rotatably supported member for actuating said driving elements includingnivotally connected toggle links operatively connected to said driving elements, a plurality of eccentric members connected to said links for actuating said links and arranged on axes oiiset from the axis of revolution of said rotatably supported member, and means for driving said eccentric members.
11. A power transmission mechanism comprising a rotatably supported member and means for rotating the same comprising a stationary member, reciprocable driving elements coacting with said stationary member and supported and guided by said rotatable member, and means for actuating said driving elements comprising pivotally connected toggle links operatively connected to sa d driving elements, a plurality of eccentr1c members for actuating said links, and means carried by said rotatable member for driving said eccentric members.

A power transmission mechanism comprising a. stationary reaction member, I a movable member, a driving element coacting with said stationary member and supported by said movable member for causing relative movement between said members, and means for actuating said driving element comprising a pair of pivotally connected links one having an end operatively' connected tosa-id driving element and the other having" an end pivoted on said movable member on which said driving element is'supported, a second pair of toggle links pivotally connected to said first pair of links, an eccentric member connected to said second pair of links for actuating all ofsaid links, and means carried by said movable member for driving said eccentricmemberi I 1 '13. A power transmission mechanism comprising a stationary member and a rotatable member, reciprocable driving elements coacting with said stationary member and supported and guided by said rotatable member, and means for actuating said driving elements comprising toggle levers, operatively connected tosaid elements, a plurality of eccentric members carrled by said rotatable member and rotatable on parallel axes which move in an orbit about the axis of said rotatable member, and means carried by said rotatable member for driving said eccentric members. 7

A power transmission mechanism comprising a stationary member, a rotatable member, driving elements comprising recip rocable spring pressed pawls coacting with said stationary member and supported and guided by said rotatable member, and means for actuating said driving elements comprising pairs of togglelinks movable in parallel ios planes and operatively connected to said driving elements and having ends pivotally connected to said rotatable member, eccentric members rotatable on parallel axes for actuating said links, and means carried by said rotatable member for driving said eccentric members.
18. A power transmission mechanism comprising relatively movable members one of which is a stationary reaction member having ratchet teeth formed thereon, driving elements alternately coacting with one of said members and supported by the other member for causing said relative movement, and means for actuating said driving element comprising toggle links operatively connected to said driving elements, eccentric members rotatable in opposite directions for actuating said links, and means for driving said eccentric members.
19. A power transmission mechanism comprising a stationary member and a rotatable member, rcciprocable driving elements co acting with said stationary member and supported and guided by said rotatable member, and means for actuating said driving elements comprising pairs of pivotally connected toggle links, a link of each pair having one end operatively connected to a driving element and the other link of the pair having an end connected to said movable member, second pairs of links, certain links of said second pairs having ends operatively connected to said first pairs of links and other links of said second pairs having ends connected to said movable member, a plurality of eccentric n1e1nbers, links connecting said eccentric members respectively with said second pairs of links for actuating all of said links, and means carried by said rotatable member for driving said eccentric members.
