Description

Jan. 27, 1931. A, H, SAMUEL FISHING LINE SINKER Filed-Jan. 7, 1930 ama atentecl Jan. 27, 1931 UNITED'STATES PATENT oFFcE ALBERT H. SAMUEL, OF BALTIMORE, MARYLAND meme-LINE sunma Appcafion fiea January 7, 1930. serial m. 419,186.
this invention Will become more readily apparent to persons skilled in the art from a consideration of the following` description When taken in conjunction With theaccompanying drawings wherein: V o v Fig. 1 is a Section lengthwise through the fishing-line sinker.
Fig. 2 is a cross Section along line 2-2 of F ig. 1.
The fishing-line sinker consists of a body of cast or molded heavy metal (1), preferably lead, of ellipsoidal shape and having embodied therein a Wire (2), preferably of brass, Which is looped to form the eyes (3) and (4). The ends of the Wire extend almost to the Central part of the ellipsoidal body of metal. By this Construction the Wire is held tightl by the metal (1) and slipping is prevente i The body ofmetal (l) shouldbe ofellipsoidal shape, With the minor axis equalling 30 to 50% of the major axis, preferably 40 to 50%. Slight deviations from the true geometric ellipsoid of circular cross section are permissible but it isneceesary to maintain the ratio of major to minor axis Within the limits set forth herein, because a sinker Which is more slender Will cause objectionable oscillation I claim as my invention: A sinker for fishing-lines comprising a body .of heavy .metal of ellipsoidal form With the minor axis equalling 40 to 50% of the magor aXis and having a Wire looped at each end reentering said body of metal to form a fastening eye at each end, said Wire being held Vsecurely by said heavy metal against slipping Within' said body of metal and said Wirejoeing disposed to bear entirely the pull applied at said fastening eyes. i
n testimony Whereof I aflix my Signature.

and Wiggling of the sinker and also the fishing-line as it is drawn through the Water, While a sinker of more stubby form Will interfere With proper control of trolling depth.
The present invention is not limited to the specific details set forth in the foregoing examples Which should be construed as illustrative and not by Way of limitation, and in view' of the numerous modifications Which may be effected therein Without departing from the spirit and scope of this'invention, it is desired that only such limitations be imposed as are indicated in the appended claim.
