N. PETERS, PHOTO-UTHOGRAFHER. WASHKNG UNITED STATES PATENT GFFIGE,
LEWIS O. PARKER, OF ROBINSON, KANSAS.
IMPROVEMENT IN SUGAR-SAFES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 178,947, dated June 20, 1876 application filed April 18, 1876.
To all whom it may concern: l
Be it known that I, LEWIS G. PARKER, of
' Robinson, in the county of Brown, and State of Kansas, have invented a new and Improved Sugar-Safe, of which the following is a specification:
My improved sugar-safe consists of a can of sheet metal, or other suitable materials, having an annular chamber around the top for holding Water to moisten the air above the sugar, and prevent the sugar from drying and packing in the can, the said chamber being open to the space in the can below the cover,
by preference, located on the inside of the cylinder; but it may be on the outside, it preferred. 0 represents a row of holes opening from the chambers into the can for the escape of the vapor. filling the said chamber, being, by preference, closed on the top. E is the cover, and F is a packing of rubber attached to the cover for closing the can -tight, said packing being arranged a little tapering to fit in the can tight- 1y. G is a faucet for drawing oil the water from the evaporating-pan when required.
Having thus described my invention, what I claiin as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. The combination of an evaporating pan or chamber, B, with a can, A, substantially as specified. 2. The combination of a cover having flex ible packings F and an evaporating-pan, B, with a can, A, substantially as specified.
LEWIS G. PARKER. Witnesses:
