Thisinvention relates to a display case preferably for eatables, such as, cookies,
invention may appear'from the accompanycakes, candies, or the like. y
object of our invention is to provide a case having glass panels and these panels being so mounted that each one can be quickly and easily removedand replaced without ldisturbing any ofthe others.
Another object 1s to so mount the door of the case that it will be held in either an open f or closedposition by a spring or springs.
Still another object is. to provide a case which is simple in construction andeli'e'ctive 1n use. 1 l' Other objects, advantages, and features of Figure?, is a fragmentary, sectional viewk taken on line `3, 3 of Figure 1.
Referring more particularly to the drawl ing, the numeral 1 indicates the base of our f casewhich comprises a pair of legs or supports 2, 2 at the sides thereof. These legs are substantially triangular in'shape so that the case is held at a slight angle the better to display the goods therein. The top plate 3 of j the base 1 forms the bottom of the enclosure land a glass pjanel rests on the top plate and forms the bottom ofthe case. The enclosure 4 comprises side frames 5, 5, a top frame 6, an end frame 7, and a door frame 8. These frames are preferably formed of metal and are formed of channels, the ends of which are suitably secured together such as by welding, or the like, thus formingV the complete enclosure.
Thefdoor frame 8 is hingedly secured at the bottom thereof to the base 1 by means of hinges 9. A springrlO` is secured to one end of the door frame 8 an-d to the side frame i 5 and this -frame is" so arranged that the door is held either in openk or closed position.
` Thus it is not necessary for the clerk to hold the door open while takingthings from the case.
` The rear ends of theframes 5 and Gare open so that the glass panels 11, l2 can readily be slipped into or out of said frames. Thedoor kframe 8 is open at one end so that the glass panel 13 can be fitted therein. The
`glass panelv 14: for the end frame 7 is fitted into place byfirst inserting the upper edge thereof and then4 permitting it to drop into lace in ythebottom of the frame, as shown in igure' 3. -Y The 'panel 14 is somewhat narlrowerfthan the Vframe 7 soV that suilicient f space is provided'to permit the insertion of the panel as stated above. Thev inner leg f of the bottom channel ofthe frame 7 is short so that the bottom of the panelll will slide over it and rest in the frame, and the top of the panel will still be within the upper channel lof the frame.
It will be evident from the foregoing description that any of the glass panels can be readily removed if broken without disassembling thecase and the arrangement of metal frames Vis simple and inexpensive to manufacture and still provides a case which is pleasing in appearance and is effective in use.
Having described our invention, we claim:
Y A display case comprising a base, legs on the base, said legs being substantially triangularL in shape whereby the case is positioned atV an angle, an inclosure mounted on the base, said incl-osure comprising a pair ofside frames, a top and an end frame, all of said frames being formed of metal channels, a glass panel fitted into each of said frames, said side Vand top framesbeing open at the rear thereof to permit the panels to be inserted or removed, a glass panel in the end frame, said last named panel being narrower than the end frame,`the inner leg of the lower` channel of the end iframe being shortened so that the last named panel can slide thereover when inserted or removed, a door frame hingedly mounted on the case," said door frame being formed of metal Channels and said door Vframe being open'at one end thereof, a glass panel fitted into'thedoor frame anda spring Secured to the door Vframe whereby the door is held in either openor closedV position.
