This invention relates to pockets mounted on flat rigid surfaces, and maintained in a i closed condition by means of hookless tasteners, or the like.

The hookless fastener, among its many applications has been extensively used toclose pockets in hand bags, suit cases, clothing, etc. However, the hookless fastener is objectionable when so used as itspresents a rou h edge at all times to a' hand entering the pocket, and it is necessary to distort the ocket to facilitate access thereto, this being no to the construction of the pocket, which usually consists in a sheet of material of substantially rectangular shape attached to a wall directly" along three of its edges, the fourth edge being held to the wall by hookless fasteners.

It is an object of this invention to provide a pocket which may be expanded so that access thereto is not accompanied by distortion, and the hookless fasteners may be used to close the pocket without limiting access to the pocket.

This and other objects are attained by the novel construction, combination and arrange ment of parts hereinafter described and shown in the accompanying drawin constituting a material part 0 this dislosure, and in which:

Referring to the drawings, asubstantially rigid wall 5 has mounted thereon a pocket comprising a sheet 8 of material connected with the wall by the side gussets 6 and 7, and the bottom gusset 9. i

Fixed to the wall 5 is a tape 10 carrying the elements 11. of a hookless fastener, and similar tape 12 carrying the fastener elements 13 .is fixed to the upper edge of sheet 8. As

shown in his. 1 and 3, t e ta es 10 and 12 are continue beyond the poo et, the portion 21 of tape 12 being attached to 'wall 5, and the fastener elementsterminate in a stop 14, which limits the movement of the hooker 15, the latter having a tab 16 by means of which it may be manipulated.

The wall 5 may continue above the tape 10, or it may be provided with a substantiall rigid extension in the form of the sheets 1 and 18 of material, attached to the wall 5 and to each other, as shown in Fig. 2, which form is applicable in connection with a pocket mounted on the inner wall of a hand bag.

In operation, the hooker is moved to the right, until it engages stop 14, (Figs. 1, 3) to disengage the elements 11 and 13 of the fastener. The gussets 6, 7, 9 then enable the pocket to be expanded to facilitate access thereto. I

in Fig. 4, is shown a modified form of pocket in which the sheet 8 at one edge is attached directly to the wall 5, and the gusset 7 is omitted, the pocket being provided with a gusset 6 at the opposite end. This form of pocket may be entered with case, but, obviously, is not as commodious as the form shown in Figures 1 and 3.

The Socket as herein described is especially adapts for use on rigid walls which extend a considerable distance above'the mouth of the pocket. It is applicable in hand bags,

Having thus described my invention, what It claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is 2 1. A pocket, comprising a substantially rigid wall, a sheet of material, gussets connecting the side and bottom edges of the sheet to the wall, said wall extending above the upper edge or the sheet, and hookless fastener elements attached to the wall and to the upper edge of the sheet of material said elements extending beyond one end of the pocket.

2. A pocket, comprising a wall, a sheet of material having a free edge, gussets connecting the other edges of the sheet of material to. the wall, said wall extending above the free edge, and hookless fastener elements attached to the wall and the upper edge of the sheet of material, said elements extending beyond one end of the pocket.

3. A pocket, comprising a wall, a sheet of material havin a. free edge, gussets connecting the side edges of the sheet to the wall, means for connecting the bottom edge of the sheet to the wall, said wall extending above the free edge, and hookless fastener elements attached to the wall and the upper edgeof the sheet ofmaterial, said elements extending beyond one end of the pocket.
