This invention relates to flask supporters.
designed and adapted to `support flasks for.
the adminis-tration of saline and other solutions.V "The device is specially useful as an accessory for surgical uses, though lit may be applied to other purposes.
` An objectof the invention is to Yprovide a device for supporting a flask for the applicationof saline and other'solutions andrindieating accurately the amount of such solutions administered land otherwise, facilitating the administration of thesolutions.
lutions and having my invention applied p thereto. A
Fig. 2 is a side elevation of aV flask With the present device applied thereto. l
Fig. 3 is a side elevation looking at right angles to Fig. 2. i I p Fig.4 is an enlarged cross sectional .view approximately on the line P-of Fig. 3.
Thepflask l is of familiar globular type provided Withan elongated neck 2 and `vvhich typev of flask is used extensively in connection with surgical operations, etc. The construction and uses ofthe flaskare quite familiar to physicians, surgeons and their aids and attendants and further' descriptionA is unnecessary.
The present invention `comprises means'. for supporting the flask inverted so as to obtain Y accurate administration of the contents. As
shown, a disc 3 constitutes a'base and is.
shaped to provide a number of beads-4 for the better support ofthe flask in uprightpo-l sit-ion on thedisc 3.
A pair of arms 5 extend across and engage the bottom of the flask and are .attached to diametrically opposite sidesof the disc 3 and these armsare curved and shaped in conformity with the contour of' the body of the flask l and have their ends extended to fit against diametrically opposite sides of the neck 2 of the flask, but terminate shortof the open end ofthe neck 2. These arms 5 have a band 0r ring 6 attached to their extremities arrangedtoclasp around the neck 2 ofthe l flask. vThe-ends 7 of the band' or ring 6 are extended outwardly Vand-are capable of being spreadv apart-"to permit application ofthe device tothe llaskf in-pl'acing the band or ring around `the' ,neckiof the flask, or-to 'perfV A mit removal ofthe device from the flask.- To

One or both of the arms 5 may be provided i With a graduated scale 16 to indicate acl-Lia Vcurately the amount of contents of the flask andthe amount removed in each administration. Y
i This invention has been ,used successfully and With a high degree of satisfaction as a"n supporter for flasks used in the administration of saline and other solutions. fil
ture from the nature and principle of the invention.
Accordingly, I do not restrict myself in these or any other unessential particulars, but what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. T he combination with a flask having a neck, and a stopper in the neck, of a base for supporting the flask upright with the neck extending upwardly, a pair of arms located on diametrically opposite sidesiof the flask and neck and secured to said base, a clasp attached to said arms and engaging the neck of the flask, and a resilient element having one end connected With said clasp and eX- tending to engagement with the end of the stopper and preventing outward movement of said stopper. v
2. The combination with a flask having a neck, and a stopper inthe neck, of a support for the flask comprising a pair of Varms on diametrically opposite sides of the flask and neck and engaging the bottom of the flask,
a ring clasp attached to said arms and en-. aging` the neck of the flask and having its ends detached from each other and capable of being spread apartto permit application of the ring on the neck orv removal of the ring from the neck of the flask, a resilient element attached to said clasp and extending to engagement with the end of the stopper and; constituting an abutment preventing outward movement of the stopper, and a bail pivoted to said arms near the bottom of the Hask and being movable laterally to position `to permit saiclflaskto stand upright with the neck extending upwardly.
A device for administration of solutions comprising a flask having a neck, and a stopper in the neck, in combination with a iframe secured tothe flask, a graduated scale on the frame indicating the amount of contents of the flask, a bail pivoted to the frame for supporting the `flask inverted and being movable to position to permit the flask to stand upright with the neck of' the flask extending upwardly, and a resilient element having one end rigid with said frame and the other end extending-to engagement with said stopper to prevent outward movement of said stopper when said flask is inverted.
