Description

NOV. 18, 1930. SEWARTH 1,782,276
BEDCOVER FRAME Filed March 23, 1929 d in Patented Nov." 18 1 930 1 uNrrEn STATES nnnsr rnnononsniranrn, or LEIPZIIG, GERMANY imncovnn FRAME Application filed March 23, 1S29, Seria1 No. 349,2S7 and in Germany September 27, 1928.
cient in use and which can be placed in 130- sition easily and quickly by .just a few manipulations, so as to provide a hollow cavity over the lying person wh ch, in th s way, is protected against direct Contact with the bed-clothes except at the chest and feet which it is deslrous to keep covered.
The inventionwill be readily understood by referenceto the accompanying sheet of drawings in which one embodimentof same is illustrated. I
. Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the frame ready for use.
20 Fig. 2 is likewise a perspective view of the frame partly collapsed.
Fig. 3 shows an end-view of'the frame completely folded. In this drawing the frame or holder is composed of the frame portion a and a, of which the parts a are united along their adjoining longitudinal edges by means of the hinges 1), whereas the parts a are connected to the frames as by hinges cl at their abutting *ross edges. When the holder is to be folded, the frame portions a fold about their hinges b Fig. 2) whereas the frame portions 0; may be folded over the parts a, thereby turning on their hinges d (Fig. v In the use of the device the holder may be arranged upon a bed with the lower frame members (z-a opened and arranged in formation as shown in Fig. l. but with the upper frame members aa folded downwardly and over upon the frame members a-a. When so arranged the lower portion of the bed covers may rest upon members 0:o while the upper portionof the bed. covers turned down between the frame members a a and da. By this arrangement with members a-a turned down the bed covers will be so supported and disposed as to allow a person to easily and conveniently enter or leave the bed. On entering the'bed 5 the person will insert his feet and the lower portion of his body in the space formed by the members aa and the portions of the. bed covers resting thereon, and said person may then enclose the upper portion of his body up to the neck, if desired, by drawing the frame members aa up to the position shown in F 1g. 1 together with the upper poi tions of the bed covers, which will rest on said frame n'iembers. On turning the upper portions of the bed covers and the frame members a-a downward toward the foot of .the bed the upper portion of the body of the occupant maybe exposed and the parts arrangedto enable the occupant to leave the bed as will be readily understood;
It is evident that the form of construction" shown and described may be changed in various ways to suit different conditions or requirements, without departing from the spirit of the invention as defined in the following claim. i
lVhat I claim is A collapsible bed cover frame adapted to be arranged in inverted /\-formation on a bed to support. and hold the bed clothes elevated out of contact with the body of. a person lying in bedrsaid frame comprising two pairs of oblong rectangular frame members arranged on opposite sides of the longitudinal center of the frame and each. pair con sisting of an upper member and a lower member, the upper members being hinged at their inner longitudinal edges for unfolding movement to an inverted A-formation and for a folding movement in parallel overlapping relation, and the lower members being free from connection at their inner longitudinal edges and hinged at their upper end edges to the lower end edges of the upper frame members so as to adapt said lower frame members to be unfolded to form with the upper frame members elongated A- shaped support and to be folded over upon the outer faces of the upper frame members
