rlhis invention relates toa heating apparatus of the kind composed of a plurality of hollow sections which are connected by pipes and assembled so as to form afurnace space between them, and the invention consists in forming the sections o-ut of flat, hollow, rectangular bodies having lugs for supporting the furnace arches, the bodies being in co1nmunication with one another through two eX- ternal pipe systems which divide the sections into two independent groups.
By this arrangement a very simple and eiificient heating apparatus is obtained which can be extended to any required size, and the two groups of sections can be utilized in different manners, one group being employed for heating by means of hot water while the other is used for heating by means of lowpressure steam.

The heating apparatus is built up out of a plurality of shallow, independent, closed water vessels l which are made of east or malleable iron in the form of parallelepipeds and assembled so as to enclose a space 5 which can serve as a furnace chamber for heating the vesselsl For this purpose the vertically disposed vessels are adapted to support a tier of superposed refractory arches 6 on which the fuel, for instance coal dust, is placed for combustion. The arches are formed in known manner with upwardly tapering perforations 7 which are arranged in a staggered position relative to the perfor-ations of adjacent arches.
Preferably the vessels are connected externally by pipes 2 and 3 into independent groups which can be used for hea-ting simultaneously by means of hot water circulation, by means of low-pressuresteam and by means of hot air. The hot air is obtained from outside the furnace, which for this purpose is enclosed in a chamber of masonry whence the air can be conveyed in known manner for uti- 'J lization. The radiation may be promoted by the provision on the boiler sections of vertical, radial gills 4.
One narrow side of the apparatus is fitted with a fire-door or doors, and the gases are led olf from the top of the apparatus, the draught and the combustion being regulated in known manner.
As an alternative to coal dust or the like, gas, oil or electricity may be employed as a heating medium.
I claim:
A heating apparatus of the character described, comprising a furnace chamber each side of which is composed of a plurality of flat, hollow rectangular boiler sections, external pipes connecting different sections into independent boiler systems, a plurality of sectional furnace arches arranged one above the other inside the chamber, and lugs formed on the inner sides of the boiler sections as supports for said arches.
