Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFF ICE.
DAVID HOAG, OF WARRENSBUBG, NEW YORK.
. IMPROVEMENT m MOP-WRIINGERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 177,716, dated May 23, 1876; application filed April 18, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DAVID Hone, of Warrensburg, in the county of Warren and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Mop-Wringing Attachment to Pails, of which the following is a specification:
With accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents a side view, and Fig. 2 atop view, 0 my improved mopwringing attachment to pails.
Similar letters of references indicate corresponding part-s.
The invention relates to an effective and readily-operated mop-wringer attachment to pails; and it consists of treadle and lever operated wringing-rollers, in connection with a locking'and carrying pail.
In the drawing,-A represents a bucket or pail, of the common size and shape; and B,
metallic plates that are attached to opposite sides of the pail, and serve, by central slots at and upper-pins II, as supports and guides for the roller-carrying levers O. The levers G are provided with slots d, to slide along the stationary guide-pins b of plates B, and fulcrumed to a pivot-pin, d, that runs in the central slot at of plate B. The levers 0 support the inop- -wrin gin g rollers D at their upper ends at suitable height above the' pail, two of the levers that support one of the rollers being made in one piece, with a V- shaped pail-fittin g treadleextension, E, by which the levers are operated. The extension-lever E has a treadle, E, at the lower post part of which the rollers may be closed on the mop by pressing with the foot on the treadle.
The levers O thatv carry the other roller are not extended beyond the piv ot-pin, but are jointly operated with th readlelevers. V
' The mop is wrung out dry, even if its shape should be uneven and thicker at one end than at the other, as the rollers adjust themselve to the shape of the mop. 1
To the upper end of one set of levers, and preferably to the shaft ends of the rollers, are pivoted the connecting-hooks F, that lock on the shaft ends of the other roller by the action of a bail, F, that is huu g at some distance from the pivots of the hooks.
When the bail is dropped, the hooks or catches release the roller, and admit then the opening of the rollers for the introduction of the mop. When the bail is raised, the rollers approach each other, and are locked by the action of the hooks or catches, so that the pail may be carried conveniently like a common pail.
' The extent of motion of the levers or catches F is defined by a recess, 0, of the catches below the pivots and a stop-pin, e, of the levers. A projecting piece, E?, at the bottom part of the pail below the treadle, serves to prevent the pail from topping over, and also as a handpiece for employing the pail.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Let ters Patent, is- I 1. Thecombination of the fulcrumed levers O G, wringing-rollers D D, lever-extension E, and treadle E, with the slotted guide-plates B and pail-A, all constructed and relatively arranged substantially as herein set forth.
2. The combination of the locking-hooks F and hail F with the ,fulcrumed levers O G, rollers D D, and pail A, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
DAVID none.
