DISPENSER FOR TOOTH PASTE `Application :tiled ctober 14, 1929. Serial No. 399,470.
l My invention relates to the type df dispensers 1n which a collapsible tube is inserted and vfrom which the paste is ejected. It has for its main object to provide a device which isp manipulated by a tooth brush in such a manner that during this manipulation the paste is deposited directly on the tooth brush. Another object is to provide a device in which the full tube is easily inserted and the empty 1o tube as easily removed. A further object is to provide a device of simple, sanitary construction, easy to manipulate, neat in appearance and inexpensive to manufacture.
These and various other objects and advan- 15 tages will be readily understood from the following description and from the accompanying drawing of a preferred embodiment, but it will be noted that certain modifications might be made without departing from the 20 scope of the invention. In the drawing- Fig. 1 is a front elevation of the dispenser,
Fig. 2 is a side elevation, and
Fig. 3 is a top view.
Re erring now to all the views, simultaneously, the dispenser is suspended on a base plate by means of an upper toggle consisting of links 11 and 12 and a lower toggle consisting of links 13 and 14. The base plate is secured on a-wall or other vertical surface by screws engaged in theholes 15 and 16.
The collapsible tube 17 is held-between two rectangular pressure plates 18 and 19 and retained in its position by a slotted clip 20 which is secured on the plate 18 and straddles the nipple 21. The pressure plates are connectedon each side with upper toggles consisting of links 22 and 23 and lower toggles 24 and 25. A U shaped member, havin two long upwardly extending arms 26 and 2 and a transverse platform 28, is suspended below the nipple 21. The arms 26 and27 are connected with the toggles on both sides of the pressure plates as plainly shown on Fig. 1. A
epression 29 is formed across the center of the platform and in this the tooth brush 30 is guided. v
' The device is operated in the following manner. The tooth brush is placed in the depression 29 as shown in Fig. 1. en a downward pressure is exerted on the platform, by
means of the tooth brush, the pressure plates are drawn together by the tog e links and the paste is ejected from the tue as shown at 31. The brush is slowly withdrawn while the downward pressure is maintained and the paste is thus evenly distributed on t-he brush.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new and wish to protect by Letters Patent is:
1. In a device of the class described, a pair of spaced plates, two or more toggle links attached to each edge of both of said plates,
and a U shaped member having its legs so connected with the said toggle links that pressure applied thereon. will cause the distance between the plates to diminish.
2. In a device of the class described, a pair of spaced plates, two or more toggle links at taohed to eachedge of both of said plates, a U shaped member having its legs so connected with the said toggle links that pressure applied thereon will cause the distance between the plates to diminish, and said plates suspended on a base plate by means of toggle links.
3. In a device of the class described, a pail' of spaced plates, two or more toggle links attached to each ed e of both of said plates, a U shaped member aving its legs so connected with the toggle .links that pressure applied thereon will cause the distance between the plates to diminish, aplatform rovided on said U shaped member, and sai l plates suspended on a base plate by means of toggle links. "55 4. In a device of the class described, a pair of spaced plates, two or more toggle links attached to each ed e of both of said plates, a U shaped member aving its legs so connected with the said toggle links that pressure applied thereon will cause the distance between the plates to diminish, a platform provided o n said U shaped member, a guide channel pros vided in said platform, and said plates suspended on a base plate by means of toggle links.
