GARMENT BAG Application My invention relates to bags for use in the apparel and other garments.

It is the object of my invention to provide a side opening bag, having a closure which will secure garments held within it from moths, dirt, dust or moisture, and includes means for supporting garment hangers in its upper portions, built as to be simple to make, and stout and strong, relieving the bag from strain of the garments, and reinforcing the upper edge of the bag as well. 7 I

I accomplish my objects by that certain construction and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more specifically pointed out and claimed.

In the drawings 2-- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the bag with the sealing flap open.

Figure 2 is an elevation of the bag, showing in dotted lines the contents thereof.

Figure 3 is a detail of the top bar and hook structure of the bag.

The bag may be conveniently formed of a piece of paper 1 as long as the bag and of double width, which is folded along the middle as at 2, and lapped at the bottom and pasted as at 3, forming a preliminary structure which is open along one side and along the top.

The side flap is preferably formed, although not necessarily, of a piece of gummed tape 4, which issecured to one edge of the bag so as to leave plenty of surface to be later bent over the other edge of the bag and sealed down, thus closing the bag along the side and about whatever contents may have been placed therein.

These particular details of structure while making for economy, are not essential to the 7 function developed by the bag.

I 'As a preferred structure of the hook elements, a piece ofwire is bent-to form the upper supporting hook 8, and passed through the woodenstrip, bent out and formed into a loop serving as a hook asat 9, and then thrust back into the wooden strip again, to anchor it, as at 10. The one piece of wire serves all purposes and the use of the hook 9 to support I bag, will not place any substantial strain on the piece of wood. 7

In use, the garment hanger indicated at 11 will be used to suspend a garment such as the coat 12. on is thrust into the bag through the open side, and set over the hook 9. The sealing flap along the side is then moistened and closed, resulting in completely enclosing the structure. 7

There is no loose hook passing through the top of the bag with a hanger on its under end, and the top of the bag stays without sagging, due to the insertion of the piece of woo through which the hook structure is arranged. The whole device may be compactly condensed for shipment and storage, and will be suitable for hanging in a closet or elsewhere without danger of being torn due to carelessness by the users of the place of storage.

Having thus described my invention w I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is r 1.
