Description

L. LEFETICH Feb. il, 1930.
SWIMMING GLOVE l Filed Sept. 22. 1928 Patented Feb. 11, 1930 LOUIS LEPETICH, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
SWIMMING GLOVE Application filed September 22, 1928.
This invention relates to an improved swimming glove and has for its object the provision of a webbed skeleton glove which absorbs or carries a minimum amount of water, thereby offering but little resist-ance in the return stroke.
A further object includes the provision of a skeleton glove having a web-pad covering the extremities of the fingers.
lo Other objects will appear hereinafter and I obtain these objects by the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawings in Which Figure 1 is a view in elevation of a glove from the upper side; and
Fig. 2 is a view of a glove supplied with my improved pad viewed from the inner side.
The prime purpose of my invention is to provide a glove which carries a minimum amount of material and still gives support for a pad which serves as a web between the several fingers and thumb. The glove is made of an open mesh and is constructed of suitable cord or thread material knitted or knotted together and formed of threads 10. These threads or yarns are preferably double so as to form a firm support for the hand and are knitted or knotted together at the points 11. This construction forms an open mesh which has a given amount of elasticity and firmly fits over the hand so as to give a firm support for the web-pad 12. This pad comprises closely knitted material, such as broadcloth of suitable weave for example. The pad is fastened at the thumb and the tips of the iingers by stitches 13. Stitches 13 also fasten the lower part of the pad at the base of the fingers in the palm of the hand. This arrangement provides a simple and eiiicient webbed glove which is very effective in swimming inasmuch as the material is very light and does not absorb much water it is easily used. Instead of knitted cords obviously other suitable open mesh material may be used. The glove itself is provided with an elastic Wristband 14 so as to firmly hold the glove in position on the hand.
I-Iaving now described my invention, what I claim as new and useful and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
Serial No. 307,611.
