Description

F. A. KNABE.
CATAMENIAL SACK. I No.1.74.,540[ Patented March7,1876.-
N PEIEHSI PHOTO-LITHOGRAPHEW, WASHINGTON. D C.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANK A. KNA-BE, OF CINCINNATI, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN CATAMENIAL SACKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 174,540, dated March 7, 1876; application filed February 17, 1876. w i
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, FRANK A. KNABE, of Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and "useful Improvements in Menstrual Protectors,
of which the following is a specification:
The invention relates to a simple but very useful and convenient device for the use of women during the period ofmenstruation, and consists in the use of a bandage provided with a receptacle for napkins or other absorbents.
Figure 1 shows the protector in position on the wearer; Fig. 2, a perspective view; Fig. 3, the manner of securing the napkin-receptacle to the bandage; and Fig. 4, this receptacle partly unfolded, displaying a napkin.
A is a belt, preferably made of muslin or linen, and having a button attachment, a. B is a. bandage, preferably made of morocco, passing from front to rear, and having' both ends attached to the belt A. The back end ismade adjustable, as shown at Gin Fig. 2, and the front end may be attached. to the belt in any convenient manner. D is a folding receptacle for the napkins H, and is buttoned to p the bandage B,'as seen in Figs. 2 and 3. Instead of napkins, an y suitable material may be used. I is a lap-guard to cover the button, and to prevent the escape of the fluid endwise.
The whole will be found to be a convenient and safe protector, and it is obvious that the folding pocket D and the napkins H may be removed and laundried at pleasure.
The supporter B is made attachable at the back to enable it to hang in front when the wearer desires to assume a sitting posture with it loosened.
I claim- The combination, with the belt or waistsupport A, of the bandage B, detachably. connected at O, the folding receptacle D, connected with the bandage B, and constructed to hold the napkin, and the end covers I, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 11th day of February, 1876.
F. A. KN ABE.
