OF sT. LOUIS, MISSOURI, A ceRPoRATION or MISSOURI WHISTLE f Application led March; 5,
VMy invention relates to whistles, and, has for its particular object to provide a whistle for producingtwo different notes, or sounds which blend and result in a single blast when the whistle is blown.
A `further obj ect of the invention is to provide a hollow whistle body formed from a single piece of metal which is provided with two Sound Outlet openings and within which body therel is positioned a reed partition in register with the outlet openingsl and formed by folding partitions by means forwardv edges of the said. deflectors being spaced sections of the of a die operation.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a whistle body from a single piece of metal, so blanked as to provide a hollow circular sound chamber rbodysection when folded midway itslength and to provide a Vshallow tubular mouth piece section, both of which folded body sections are clinched or crimped together at their marginal edges by overlapping the edge of one half of the body upon the edge of the otherV half of the bod i Aystill further object of the invention is the positioning of the reed partition between the marginal edges of the two halves ofthe body when folded to prevent displacement thereof when the marginal edgeof one half of the body is clinched over. the marginal edge of the other half of the body. Y A still further object of the invention is the provision of a whistle which possesses advantages in points of simplicity and etliciency, and, at the same time proves itself comparatively inexpensive in cost of manufacture..
With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel features of construction, arrangement and combination of parts hereinafter more fully described and finally pointed out in the claims 'hereto appended. Referring to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, wherein likeV characters of reference denote similarY parts throughout the several views:

body before it vhas been folded and after it has been'blanked and shaped. l
Fig. 2, is aside elevation thereof.
Fig. 3, is a plan view of the reed. partition in its blanked form.
Fig. 4, is a plan view of the reed partition after it has the Vdeflectors formed asan integral partthereof.
Fig. 5, is al side `elevation thereof. l Fig. 6, isa longitudinal sectional elevation' of the whistle after it has been assembled. Fig. 7, is a top plan view of the whistle. Fig. 8,V is a sectional elevation taken on line 8 8 o-f Fig. 7.l f A I v .In 'carrying outl the aim of my invention, I' employ awhistle bodyv made from a. single piece of metal so shaped as to form two similarbody sectionsA and B joined together by means vof vaV connecting strip,- as-at 1. The body sections A and B areprovide'd4 with vthe flat marginal flanges 2 and 8,.respectively and with the circular dished sound box portions" 4 and 5, respectively. The bodysections A and Bare further provided with the longitue,
dinally channeled neck portions 6 andf, respectively, and the body section B only is provided with a lip 8 which is a termination of the flat marginal flange 3 of bony Section B. The bodysections A and E are further Vprovided with the sound outlet openings 9 and 10, respectively. The sound 4outlet openings 9 and 10 are in the longitudinally channeled neck portions of thebody sections A and B in advance of the circular dished portions 4 and 5 thereof, as clearly shown in Figs.
. 1 and -2.
rFhe reed section `C of the whistle is inthe form of a single piece of thin flat metal l blanked out inthe form shown in Fig. 3 and` consists ofa circular head portionll and a neck portion 12 and which neck v'portion 12 has its side edges each provided withV the cut-` out portions 13 and 14. The neckv portion 12 is then pressed outwardly in V,shapled form between the cutout portions 13; to provide a vdeflector 15 and Aalso pressed outwardly in V- shaped'form in anr opposite direction between the cutout portions14-to' provide a'de'-f lector 16, as clearly'shown in'Fig'.
