This invention relates to improvements in floor waxing devices and has particular reference to a self-waxing floor mop. i

The principal object of this invention 1s to produce a mop wherein the wax to be applied thereto is carried in the handle of the mop.

Another object is to provide means whereby this wax may be gradually applied to the mop.

A further object is to provide means whereby a more rapid action may be em ployed when the mop is being charged wlth the wax.

A still further object is to produce a device which is neat in appearance and one which is easily manipulated.

Other objects and advantages will be apparent during the course of the following description. 1

At the present time in mopplng floors with wax, it is common to employ a mop having a lambs wool covering upon which the wax is placed after which the mop is moved over the floor so as to apply the wax thereto. This method iscumbersome in that the floor does not receive an even coating as is possible with a self-feeding type of mop.

Applicant-has therefore provided a mop wherein the wax is fed through the handle thereof a little at a time, or if desired to utilize a large amount of wax that also may be accomplished.

In the accompanying drawings wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention, the numeral 5 designates a base which may be of any desired shape. This base carries a bushing 6 to which a threaded tubular handle 7 is screwed. This handle has formed upon its upper extremity a cylindrical chamber 8 within which a piston 9 is adapted to be moved.

Passing through this threaded member 13 is a stem 14 which has threaded engagement with the member 13 and is in turn connected to the piston 9 at one end and is provided with a rotatable hand piece 16 through the medium of which the stem 14 may be rotated. The lambs wool covering is secured as shown at 17 and is secured to the outer edges of the base board5 in any A tubular ring 18 serves to hold the edges of this lambs wool covering in the bore 19, of the base 5. This tubular ring permits wax to pass from the tubular handle 7 to the floor being polished and consequently is transferredto the lambs wool covering 17.

In use the tubular handle 7 and cylinder 8 is filled with wax by unscrewing the cap 11 and depositing the wax therein. By returning the cover together with the piston 9 and its attached parts, it is obvious that if the member 16 is rotated, pressure will be brought to bear upon the wax within the cylinder and will force the same through the handle 7 and ring 18 to the floor and lambs wool covering. By unscrewing the member 13 it willbe possible to push the piston 9 into the chamber 8 any desired distance thereby delivering alarger amount of wax more expeditiously than is possible than by rotating member 16.

It will thus be seen that with my device it is possible to feed any desired quantity of wax to a polishing pad.

It is to be understood that the form of my invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of t e same and that various changes relative to the material, size, shape and arrangement of parts may be resorted'to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claim.
