' Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. l 7 l ,98 7,
dated January 11,1876; application filed August 2, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANDREW BURKE, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a certain Improvement in Insoles of Shoes, of which the following is a specification may be made a permanent portion of the shoe. It may be made of cork, leather, felt, or other suitable substance.
The insole B B is of the same size as the bottom of the last upon which the shoe has been made, with an aperture, 0, of from one I to two inches wide by from three to four inches in length, according to the size of the shoe, in that part which is intended to be immediately under the hollow of the foot.
For a more particular description I refer to the accompanying drawings.
Figure I represents a section of a shoe, A. B B show the insole in the shoe; G, the part of the insole in which the aperture is to be. Fig. II the aperture.
