This invention relates to supports by which pipes, cables', sha'iting, etc., are attached to the ceilings, walls and the like, of buildings, or other structures. Hei'etoiiore, supports of this character have included oints or connec# tions that either limited the use of the sup#l ports or were unreliable vin service because they loosened under the action ot vibrations. lt is, therefore, the principal object oi'v this invention to provide al support suitedl toa Wide range of Work andI one which -Will securely hold pipes or brackets carrying them in spite oit vibrations or casual movements of' any kind.
Further objects 'of the invention are to provide a support includingan insert adapted to be easily attached to concrete forms, setvbe tween brick orfstone during construction, or lined in pockets cut in existing structures, and a simpley anchorageelement that Will` quickly and securely fasten a bolt, or the like, tothe insert after the-latter has been implaced; and to pro 'ide a constructionthat can be manufactured and used by unskilledl la"boi','the're-` by effecting' economy both iirmanufacture and installation. l Further obJects andadvantages of fthe'in# vention will become apparent as the disclosure proceeds and the description'is read in connection with the accompanying, drawings il'- lustrating a selected'embodiinent of theinvention, and in which 1 shows the insert nailed to the concrete liorin'work and embedded in theconcrete;

The assembly will be tacilitatedby the use of a tool illustrated in Fig'. find its principal use in connection with concrete structures. The inserts will be nailed to the forni work of the floors or the colui'nns, or the like, before the concrete is iun in. After the concrete is set the Joriiis will be wrecked and the inserts will be cast solidly in the concrete with the bases 13 exposed and presenting the openings 28 by which the bolts and anchorage eleinents are entered. l/Vhen the pipes, or the like, are to be installed, suitable bolts and anchorage elements are entered into the sockets by the aid of the tool 25, and a haininer or inallet, if necessary, and the anchorage elenients are opened or spread to set the feet iirinly on the seats 23.
With this invention a bolt, or several bolts, niay be securely connected to the concrete, or the building niaterial and any suitablehanger or bracket niay be securely mounted inY place with a niiiiiniuin of ei'lbit. When once set in place there is no likelihood loosening because the load, whether suspended from the ceiling or supported on the side of a col-v unin, will tend to prevent disconnection of the bolt 'from the insert rather than perinit the anchorage element to be released.
I ain aware that the insert may be varied in il'iorni to suit different uses and the anchorage eleinent may be einebodied in different shapes and constructions and l do not wish to be liniited except as is iiiade necessary by the prior art.
I claini as niy invention 1. In a device of the class described, the combination of an insert adapted to be set into a structure so as to have one 'face exposed and including a socket accessible through an opening in the exposed face, seats in the socket adjacent to the opening` a bolt having` a head located in the socket and a per-v v foratcd anchorage eleincnt receiving said bolt and having downwardly and outwardly eX- tendod legs resting on said seats, said anchorage element beingv separate 'from the insert and having been introduced through the opening and spread to rest the legs upon the seats and thereby prevent withdrawal of the bolt.
2. In a device oi the class described, the
combination of an insert adapted to be set into a structure so as to have one aee exposed and including` a socket accessible through an opening in the exposed face, a seat adiacent arched anchorage c-leincnt inserted through the opening and so spread as to rest on said seats.
4. In a device of the class described, the
combination of an insert adapted to be set into a structure so as to have one tace exposed and including a socket accessible through an opening in the exposed face, seats on opposite sides of the opening and an anchorage elenicnt inserted through the opening and having bendable legs spread to straddle the opening and rest on sai(L seats.
