In the form shown in Figures 1 to 6, the invention is embodied in a porcelain anterior tooth comprising a body 1, the lingual surface of which is marked by the numeral 2, the same being bounded at one end by a shoulder 3 which is continued as shown at 4 along the sides of the tooth to the incisal edge thereof.

tooth. The backing 6, made of gold or the like, conforms to the surface 2 of the tooth and includes a main portion 7 and wings 8,
the backing cooperating with the shoulders 3 40. and 4. The main portion of the backing 6 carries a post 9 held by cement 10in the bore 5, the main portion 7 of the backing 6 being extended, as at 11, upon the incisal edge of the tooth.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is A denture embodying a tooth supplied with a shoulder and with an incisal portion, the
shoulder terminatingat its ends at the incisal 1 portion of the tooth, the tooth being supplied with a surface which is inclined and bounded by the shoulder on three of its edges, a back ing cooperating with the aforesaid inclined surface of the tooth and abutting against the shoulder, the backing being of substantially a 1 common thickness throughout its entire extent,and being fashioned from thin, platelike material, the backing having an extension which is over-lapped on the incisal portion'of the tooth, the incisal port-ion of the tooth being disposed approximately parallel to the intermediate portion of the shoulder, the tooth havinga bore, and a post cemented in the bore, the boreand the post extending in the general direction of the length of the tooth, the post being secured to the backing and being located at the extreme forward edge of the backing, directly in the rear of the extension.
