Application filed Qctober 6, N27. Serial 1E0. $243M.
This invention relates to window blinds and aims to provide a window blind construction wherein the pintles of the slats thereof will operate freely at all times, eliminating any possibility of the pintles sticking in such a way as to prevent the operation of the slats.
Another important object of the invention is to provide a device of this character wherein the plates in whichthe pintles are posilo tioned, may be readily and easily removed so that the slats when broken, may be readily replaced.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and'arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of Whatis claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Referring to the drawing:
Figure 1 is a front elevational view partly in section illustrating a blind constructed in accordance with-the invention.
Figure 2 is a perspective view partly in section, illustrating the plate that supports the slats. I
Referring to the drawing, in detail, the blind includes longitudinal side bars 5 that are connected at their upper and lower ends by means of the bars 6.
In the inner surface of each side bar 5 is a groove 7 which is of a' length extending throughout substantially the entire length of the side bar, the grooves of the side bars pro- 11 provided with openings 12 that are arranged in vertical spaced relation with each other to receive the pintles 8 of the slats 9, it 4r, being understood that the openings of the plates 10 are arranged opposite to each other 011' in direct alignment with the pintles of the s ats 9. v
The ofi'set portion ll of each plate provides lateral flanges 13 that are provided with suitable openings to receive the securing screws 1% so that the plate 10 may be secured to the side bars in such a way as to insure against displacement thereof, and at the same time, permit the plates to be readily and easily removed should it be desired to repair the slats in any way.
The reference character 15 indicates a rod that has connection with the slats in such a no way that the rod may be moved causing the slats tomove, with the result that the slats may be adjusted with respect to each other to admit air.
From the foregoing it will be obvious that due to this construction, the slats may move readily without danger of the slats catching or being held against movement by the pintles moving within their openings.
I claim:
In a blind construction, side bars, end bars connecting the side bars, said side bars having grooves formed therein and extended throughout the lengths of the side bars, elongated plates having ofi'sct flanges formed along their edges and disposed throughout the lengths of the side bars, said plates having openingsarranged in spaced relation with each otherand disposed opposite to the grooves to accommodate pintles of slats of the blind. I
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto aflixed my si ature.
WILLIS C. PAINE.
