The invention relates to a work stand, as described in the present specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings that form part of the same.
The invention consists essentially of the novel features of construction pointedout broadly and specifically in the claims for novelty following a description containing an explanation in detail of an acceptable form of the invention.
The objects of the invention are to facilitate the operations in a factory particularly in canning establishments whena table must be adaptable for various uses and in different places; to construct a mechanism for elevating and lowering atable shelf, box or other device, that may be operated with ease and offer no difficulties to the workmen in the pursuit of their duties; to reduce the number of appurtenances necessary to any plant and thereby insure sanitary and cleanly methods; and generally to provide a simple, efficient and durable accessory to a machinery plant.

Referring to the drawings, the permanent and fixed frame 9 is shown as formed four legs 10 joined by the sidebracos and end braces 12. The elevatable frame is formed of the legs 1% corresponding the legs 10, and the side braces 15 and end braces 16. The frame 13 fits into the permanent or fixed frame 9 and carries the table top 17 here shownas scooped out at 18 and 19 to fit to different machines, the shapes or positions of these scoops being by no means arbitrary, as they are made to suit 'the circumstances of use. The top 17 is preferably covered with metal or other serviceable covering according to the purpose for which this invention may be adapted.
The parallel arms 20 and 21 are joined and spaced at the ends by the yoke 23 and at. one end are mounted pivotally on the rail 24 rigidly secured in the permanent frame 9 to two end legs thereof and at the other I end are mounted on the rail 25 rigidly secured to two end legs of the elevatable frame 13 atthe opposite end of the table. ,The

' therefore by turning the crank-handle 33 mounted on the upper end of the screw 30 the ends of the arms are drawntogether or separated according as the the table top is being raised or lowered. At the other end the guide rod 34 is swivelly attached to the arm 26 and slidably arranged with the plate 35 from the arms 20. and 21 said guide rod 34 and 35 being-locked to the adjusted position by'the clamp 36 operated by the handle I Figure 4: the same mec'hanismis attached to a box 38 lifted in the frame 39 standing on the floor, simply showing another applicationof the same device- In the operation of theinvention the table is moved to the machine and elevated or lowered as the case may be to bring it flush" with the shelf of the machine and this is done by turning the handle of the operating screw and looking it at the other end.
What I claim is i 1. In awork stand, a standing frame and an elevatable frame, pivot bearings in rail form connecting the several end legs of said frames in 'pairs,,para1lel arms joined and spaced by yokes, at the. ends and centrally single arm centrally mounted on said spindle pivot bearing, said parallel arms being mounted at one end on a rail pivot bearing on said standing frame and on a rail pivot bearby a spindle formlng a plvot bearing, a 1
rail pivot bearing of the standing frame at the other end, an operating screw engaglng said parallel and single arms at one end for separating and drawing them together and a guide rod having a locking device for holding the arms apart at the other ends.

Awork stand comprising a plurality of frames, having their end legs joined by a plurality of rails and slidahly arranged one Within the other, crossed lever arms pivl0 otally mounted on said rails, one to each 'frame at either end, a crank member adapted to spread said arms at the ends, and means for holding the arms and consequently the frames to their adjusted positions. n 15 Signed at Montreal, Canada, this 7th day of July, 1927.
