against rotary movements in any suitable way, conveniently by loosely securing in the eye 11 an eyelet 13 whose flanges extend radially far enough to overlap the ends of the head 12 on the locking bolt when the latter is in its locking position. At least one of the flanges of the eyelet is cut away to form a notch 14 through which, when it is brought in registration with the notch or openin through the side of the eye 11, the

It will be seen that my invention consists of a small device that may be carried about on ones keyring in the same way as a key and, at night or at other times, in a hotel room or elsewhere, the device may quickly be applied to the key hole of the door and positively insure against unlocking of the door from the outside.
While I have illustrated and described with particularity only a single preferred form of my invention, I do not desire to be limited to the exact structural details thus illustrated and described; but intend to cover all forms and arrangements which come within the definitions of my invention constituting the appended claims.
Iclaim;
1. A device of the character described comprising a stem having a long narrow radial wing at one end, said stem being grooved at two points distributed along said wing a distance equal to the thickness of a lock casing, to permit the stem to drop down into the narrow portions of thekey hole slots in the casing after being inserted in the large ends of the slots, and a guard member adapted to overlie the stem within the large ends of the key holes, and means for detachably Iocking said guard member and stem together.
cation.
eyelet in said eye having in one side a notch adapted to register with the gap in'the eye, a bolt lying beside said stem and having a head adapted to extend into said gap in one angular position of the bolt and'to clear the gap in another angular position, a clip securing said stem and-said bolttogether, a long narrow wing on one side of the stem at the opposite end, and there being transverse notches cut into'said. stem opposite the said wing at a distance apart equal to thethickness of a lock casing.
4. A device comprisingv two members 0 adapted to be inserted, one above the other, into a keyhole to fill the same, one of the members having parts interlocking-with the element in which the keyhole is located to prevent withdrawl of that member, the second member being mounted on the first meniber so as to be slidable lengthwise thereof and rotatable about is long axis thereon, the second member having at its outer end a head, and a locking dog onthe first member adapted to engage with said head and prevent relative movements between said members.
5. A device comprising two 'members adapted to be inserted, one above the'other,
into a keyhole to fill the same, one ofthe members having parts interlocking with the element in which the keyhole 'is located to prevent withdrawl of thatmember, the'second member being mounted on the first member so as to be slidable lengthwise thereof and rotatable about its long axis thereon, the second member having at its outer end a head, the first member having a recess to receive said head when the second member is rotated while in a working position and prevent relative lengthwise movements between said members, and a dog on the first.
member in positionv to lock said head against rotation out of the recess. 7 V In testimony whereof, I sign this specifi- GEORGE SCALLY.
