Description
H. SENSENBAUGH.
Draft-Equalizer.
10,166,639. Patented Aug .10,1875
WI NESSES INVENTUF] UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
HENRY SENSENBAUGH, OF SHARON, ILLINOIS.
IMPROVEMENT IN DRAFT-EQUALIZERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 166,639, dated August 10, 1875; application filed June 11, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY SENSENBAUGH, of Sharon, in the county of Henry and in the State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Draft- Equalizers; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a plan view of the upper side of my improved device, and Fig. 2 is an elevation of the front side of the same.
Letters of like name and kind refer to like parts in each of the figures.
The design of my invention is to increase the strength and durability of three-horse draftequalizers; and it consists in the means employed for connecting together the inner ends of the equalizer-bars, substantially as and for the purpose hereinafter specified.
In the annexed drawings, A represents an evener, to or upon each end of which is pivoted a lever or equalizer-bar, B, that has its longest portion inside of its pivotal hearing I). The inner ends of the bars B and B are slotted horizontally and longitudinally, and within such slots is placed a plate, 0, that loosely fills the same, extends between said bars, and
is pivoted at its ends to or within the ends of the same. As thus arranged a whiffletree, D, is attached to the outer end of each bar B, and a third whififiletree, I), to the front edge and longitudinal center of the plate 0, when the device is ready for use with three horses, in the usual manner.
The plate 0 forms a connection for the equalizer-bars, which, While perfectly flexible in a line with the draft, is sufficiently rigid ver- HENRY SENSENBAUGH.
