LINOLBUM-GOYEBED BASEBOARD.
Application filed April 20, 1927. Serial No. 185,193.
This invention relates to improvements in V linoleum covered base. board. It is well known by those familiar with floor covering, such as linoleumthat the edges of the covering are laid up to the base board and that it is not only diflicult to get a'neat lookingjob, but also when the floor covering is washed the base board gets'splash'ed which requires extra work to clean.
The object of this invention is to provide a special shaped base board to allow the linoleum to curve up to the top thereof, and to provide means for holding the covering securely on the base board, to give a neat appearance to the floor covering, facilitate the cleaning thereof and to cover the upper edge of the linoleum.
The linoleum maybe cemented to the base board or fastened in any way suitable.
It is to be noted that the complete manufactured article consists of the moulding cemented thereto in a suitable width after which it is nailed to the wall and cemented to the floor, a corresponding quality of thickness of material being then matched with the edges to completely cover the floor.
The term linoleum used herein is in tended to be generic to-the artof floor cover of that general character, and includes, oil cloth, congoleum, and several other simidifierent trade 'Other objects of the invention will be apparent as the description proceeds.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawings in which the same reference numeraL is applied to the same portion throughout the several figures of the drawings and of which there may be modifications. 1
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a portion of the base board showing the floor covering applied thereto,
;I desired to secure Figure 2 is a section of the base board and covering in place, and
Figure 3 is a plan of the baseboard showing a corner and a portion of the floor covering. a
The numeral 1 indicates the base board having the curved face2 on which is laid the floor covering 3, groove 5 into which the edge of the floor covering is inserted. The corners of the base board are mitered and cut and joined as shown at 6.
A portion of the main body of the covering is indicated at 7. Having thus described my invention, what by Letters Patent of the United States is as follows, but. modifications maybe made in carrying out the invention as shown in the drawing and in the above particularly described form thereof, within the purview of the annexed claims.
1. A house element comprising a base board havinga curved face adapted to re-v ceive the turned up edges of a linoleum strip, a bead on top of said base board, 'a
groove formed in the underside of said head adapted to receive the edge of said linoleum,
and a linoleum strip having its upper edge ifn the groove and cemented to said curved ace.
2. A house element comprising a base board having a bead thereon, and a curved surface extending from said bead to the base of said ,board, a groove being formed in the underside of said head, and a linoleum strip having its upper edge in the groove cemented the bead .t has the the floor covering is to the curved face and extending horizonv tally a distance therefrom.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 15th day of April, A. D. 1927.-
