CIGARETTE HOLDER AND EJECTOR.

This invention relates generally to cigarette holders, and in particular to an improved cigarette holder and ejector provided for the purpose of holding a cigarette in a mouth-piece duringn the smoking of the cigarette, and embodying a means of readily ejeeting the burnt cigarette or the cigarette stub from the holder without necessitating the touching of the Lcigarette stub.

The object of the invention is to provide a cigarette holder and ejector of novel construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing.

As here embodied my improved cigarette holder and ejector comprises a body member 10 of cylindrical construction, having formed therein at one extremity thereof, an axial opening 11 of suitable size, or diameter to permit one end of a cigarette 12 to be inserted'therein so as to frictionally hold the cigarette 12 in an extended position as clearly shown in Fig. 1.

The opposite extremity of' the body inember 10 has formed therein an axial opening 13 extending in proximity to the above mentioned opening 11. The axial opening 14 formed in the body member 10 is of somewhat smaller diameter than the above men- 'tioned openings 11 and 13 and is intercommunicative with thesaid openings 11 and 13.

The ejector 15 is of tubular construction, adapted to slidably engage in the opening 14 formed in the body member 10 ,and is provided with an enlarged extremity 16 or head, adapted to slidably engage in the The ejector l5 is provided with a threaded Aportion 17 or extremity, as a means of sr- Yil() curing same to the stem 18 which has formed therein a threaded axial opening adapted to receive the threaded portion 17 of the ejector The stem 18 is of cylindrical construction having formed therein an axial openlng 19 extending longitudinally thereof from one end thereof, intercommunicative w1th the above mentioned threaded axial open-mg adapted to receive the threaded portion 17 of the ejector 15. The stem 18 is provided with an enlarged extremity 2() as a means of providing the usual mouth piece. The stem 18 is adapted to slidably engage in the opening 13 formed in the body member .10. The expansion spring` 21 is positioned 1n the opening 13 and is of coil construction of suitable size or diameter to freely engage over the ejector 15. The enlarged head 1G of the ejector 15 has formed therein a transverse or radial slot 22 adapted to receive a screw driver blade, or the like, as a means of threadedly securing the said ejector to the stem 18.

The above described construction is such as will permit the cigarette 12 when smoked. or the stub of the said cigarette to be readily removed or ejected therefrom by forcing the stem 18 inwardly as is obvious from the foregoing description. The stem 18 may he held in the mouth ofthe smoker, gripped between the teeth and the body member 1() forced inwardly, as ameans of ejecting the cigarette stub.

In Figs. 4, 5, 6 and 7 of the accompanying drawing, I have shown the body member 10 having formed therein, at one extremity thereof, an axial opening 23, somewhat. tapered inwardly, from the said extremity thereof. The cigarette holder proper 24 'is of frustum conical construction having a tapered axial opening 25 formed therein, and is slotted longitudinally, as at 26, and has formed therein a plurality of elongated slots 27, extending from the smaller extremity or end thereof, in proximity to the opposite end thereof. The cigarette holder proper 24 is constructed of comparatively thin material, preferably spring brass. spring steel, or the like, and is adapted to frictionally engage in the above mentioned` opening 23 formed in the body member 10. The snap ring 28 is of similar material to the cigarette holder proper 24 and is adapted lOl) other, and of suitable size to engage in the slots 27 formed in the cigarette holder proper 24.

The above described construction is such as will permita cigarette 32 to be securely Y engaged by the cigarette holder proper, as

clearly shown in Fig. 4 and which Will permit the said cigarette` when smoked or the stub of the cigarette 32 to be ejected Jfrom my improved cigarette holder. when the stem 15 is t'orced inwardly. as above set forth. It should be further understood that the extended portions and 31 ot the ejector 15 may be engaged in the. slots 2T formed in the cigarette holder proper 24 and the said cigarette holder proper partially rotated. as a means of more readily ejecting the said cigarette stub.- Y

While the invention has been described as used as a cigarette holder,`it is to be understood that l reserve the privilege ot using mginvention also as a cigar holder.

aving thus described' my invention, what I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United States is as follows:

1. In a cigarette holder of the class described, a cigarette holder proper adapted to frictionally engage in a tapered axial openlng formed 1n a clgarette holder, a snap ring. adapted to engage m a coaxial groove formed in the said opening, as a means of holding the said cigarette holder proper in place.

2. In a cigarette holder of the class described, a cigarette holder proper adapted to frictionally engage in a tapered axial opening formed in a cigarette holder, a snap ring adapted to engage in a coaxial grofve formed in the said opening. as a means of lholding the said cigarette holder proper in place, an ejector slidably mounted in .the said cigarette holder, a stem removably secured to the said ejector.

3. Ina cigarette holder of the class described, a cigarette holder proper adapted to frictionally" engage in a tapered axial opening formed in a cigarette holder, a snap ring, adapted to engage in a coaxial groove formed in the said opening, as a means of holding the said cigarette holder proper in place, an ejector slidably mounted in the said cigarette holder, a stem removably se cured to the said ejector, said ejectorprovided with extended portions adapted to engage in elongated slots formed in the said cigarette holder proper. as a means of partially rotating the said cigarette holder proper.

4. A cigarette holder of the class de scribed, comprising a cigarette holder body having a tapered axial opening provided with a coaxial groove, ejector means associated with said body, a cigarette holder proper formed With a longitudinal slot, frictionally engaged in the tapered axial opening, and a ring formed with a slot and engaged in the' coaxial groove, and holding the cigarette holder proper in place.
