This invention relates to playing objects employed in games and more particularly to a novel and improved `spheroidof any suitable material which may be thrown or slid over a playing surface such as a pavement block or large game board or ioor according to prescribed rules.

v@ne oit the objects of my invention is to provide a playing object or device constructed and devised to be thrown or struck with a club such as a hockey stick or geit' club t'or instance over a restricted playing surface, the said object or device being so balanced that it will come to rest on its flat base.

Another object of my invention is to provide a playing object in the iiorm ot a spheroid or semi-circular body of light ma.- terial having a weighted base permitting the object to come 'to rest and prevent its rolling when struck ott center by a club when playing a game over a restricted playing surrace.

iieiferring now tothe drawings wherein like reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views ol' the drawing, 5 designates a spheroidal body, preferably semi-circular which may be "formed of wood, fiber or other light material, the surface ot which may be marked, scored or numbered, or covered to simulate a golf ball. Secured to thebottom, flat surtace 6 is a weighted base 7 preferably of lead or other heavy metal Jformed integral with a. tapered screw 8 and adapted to be threaded in a socket 9 within the center ot the body. The weighted base tapers outwardly as at 10 toward the edge or periphery of the body and the iiat central portion 11 is provided with a slot 12 whereby it may `be threaded tightly within the body 5 should it become loosened. In this form oi' the invention a groove is formed on the outside o the body to receive a resilient bumper ring 13 whereby the object will not damage or mar the legs of furniture or wall bai-e board for instance when thrown or knocked with considerable torce against. the same when playing a game indoor-s. The ring will also cause the object to slide away from such parts due to its resiliency.

In Figs. 4C to G inclusive, I have shown a slightly modified lorn'i of the invention in which the body 55L is ofV substantially the y same shape and size but the weighted base 7a is secured to the bottom of said body by a countersunk screw 14 passing through a suitable aperture through the weighted base and screwed into the body proper.

ln both forms of the invention, it will be appreciated that t-he weighted base is below the center of gravit-y of the object and being of heavier material will cause the body to come to rest quickly when either slid or struck with a club for instance.V The fiat surface of the weighted base permits the Vobject to be easily thrown from one position to another over a restricted playing surface from one point to another according to any prescribed rules of a game so that it ina-y be used or thro-wn manually or struck with a club such as a hockey stick or golf4 club tor instance. In any event, the purpose of the playing object is to provide a spheroidal bodythat may be slid as opposed to being rolled from one position to another and which will always right itself or come to rest on its base as above described.

Having shown and described my inven tion7 what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent ot the U. S. is

l. A playing object of* the class described comprising a spheroidal body having a tia-t base, a metallic element having` a 4central flat surface and tapering outwardly attached to said base and fastening means formed with said element and passing within the interior of said body.

2. A playing object of the class described comprising a spheroidal body havinga lat base, a weighted element having a central flat surface and tapering outwardly Hush with said base, threaded fastening means formed with said element for securing it to the flat base, and a bumper ring on the outer surface of said body.
