My'invention relates to a kit or rece tacle for holding various articles or pac ages, andis designed more particularly for use of automobilists so as to afford a convenient holder to be suspended from the rail at the back of the automobile seat on which articles are usually hung, or other suitable supportyso as to provide a convenient and accessible holder for various articles instead of being scattered over the seats .or on the floor, and also making it possible to roll up or fold up the holder with its contents in a compact condition or form for carrying the same into the house or hotel without danger of loss and with the greatest possible convenience.

To the accomplishment of the foregoing and such other objects as may hereinafter appear the invention consists in the features hereinafter particularly described and-then sought to be clearly defined by the claims, reference being had, to thdaccompanying drawing formlng a part thereof and in which:

Figure 2, is a front view of the kit or holder on a larger scale, with a portion of its front flap or fold partially broken away;

Figure 3 is a vertical cross section through the two folds or flaps of the kit, in suspension, and showing a stra for securing the kit in its rolled-up con ition;

Figure 4 shows the kit rolled-up for carrying;

Figure 5 is a view similar to Fig. 1, showing screw-knobs instead of a bar for suspending the kit;

Figure 6 is a cross section through part of a seat-back with one form of suspenslon;

In the drawing, the numeral 1 designates the front fold or flap and 2 the rear fold or flap of the kit the two being. connected together at the top by thefold 3 formed in the material and one flap stitched tothe other adjacent to the fold 3 by a line of stitching 44 to form a casing 5 designed to receive a stiffening rod 6 which will hold the kit distended when hung from its support. The front flap 1 is formed on its exterior face liigure 8 a like detail of another form of monly attached to the back of an automobile with the desired number of pockets7 arranged along the lower portion of the flap and each open at the top, and on the inner faceof the outer flap 2 there is formed a pocket 8 preferably extending from end to endof the flap open at the top and intended for reception of larger articles. By arranglng the pockets as specified easy access is had to both sets, and the kit can be more conveniently folded or rolled-up when to be carried. The kit along its upper folded edge 3 is provided with any desired number of hangers by which it may be suspended from a suitable support. These hangers 70 may beof any approved and suitable form but preferably consist of hooks 9, which may e snap-hooks or other type, connected to the stiffening rod 6 by split rings 10, which may pass through the rod 6 as illustrated in Figure 6, or may pass entirely ardund the rod as shown in Figure 7, or may pass through eyes 11, suitably attached to the rod as illustrated in Figure 8 of the drawing. In the last mentioned form the rings 10 may lie'flat against the side flap of the kit when the latter is folded or rolled up, although in the other forms the rings will not interfere with forming the kit into a roll, as illustrated in Figure 4, as the rin s are free to be turned down onto the sti ening rod and .the hooks swung into position against the flap 1 so as to permit the kit to be wound into the roll formation shown in Figure 4. When rolled-up the kit will be secured in that form by suit-r able buckle-straps 12 secured to outer flap 2 and provided with a handle 13.

The kit will be made of any suitable material and its edges may be provided with border or binding strips 14 stitched or otherwise secured thereto, and which will also serve to close the ends of the cash 5 in which the stiffening rod 6 is containe and a. snap-fastening 15 may be provided for fastening the mouth or open end of pocket 8 so asto confine articles therein.

When in use, the kit may be suspended by its books from the rail 16 such as comseat, or suspended by its hooks from studs 17 attached to the back ofca seat and formed with rings 18 to receive the suspension hooks 9 of the kit.

The kit constitutes a container, for numerous articles ordinarily carried on an automobile trip so that they may be approtered.

n a U By forming the kit with a front-and a rear flap both flaps can be utilized for pockets, with the rear pocket concealed by the front flap, and by providing the stiffening rod both sets of pockets are held against sagging so that the kit will occupy or take-up less space in the automobile than would otherwise be so, and at the same time the articles are more readily classified and easily reached when wanted. Also when the destination is reached instead of losing time in collecting the numerous articles and carrying them in loose parcels, itis merely necessary to roll-up the kit in a compact form with all its articles retained in classified order and an attractive and convenient carrying means afforded.

I have illustrated and described the preferred embodiment of the invention but changes may be made in the various details without departure from the invention as sought to be defined by the appended claims.

Havingdescribed the invention and set forth its merits what I claim is:

1; The automobile kit consisting of front and rear members having a casing formed along one edge, the other edges being disconnected to permit the front memberv to be swung away from the rear member, both members being formed with pockets, the front member and its pockets covering and concealing the rear member and its pockets,

pocket, a stiffening rod secured along the juncture between the front and rear members, suspension hooks having a loose-connection with the stiffening rod, the members and their pockets adapted to be formed into superimposed layers and means for securing the layers in superimposed relation.

3. The automobile kit consisting of front and rear members connected one to the other by a fold along their line of juncture, the other three edges being disconnected to permit the front member to be swung away from the rear member, a casing formed at the junction of the two members, each member formed with a pocket, the pocket of one member being covered by the adjacent member, a stiffening rod in the casing to prevent sagging of the pockets, suspension hooks disposed along the stiffening rod, the two members and their pockets adapted to be formed into superimposed layers, and means for securing the layers in superimposed relation.
