'llhe disintectant is also capable oi greatly retarding the decomposition at material placed in the garbage can so that no bad odors will escape therefrom lll 'ith the toregoing and other objects in riew which will be made manifest in the iollowing detailed description and specifically pointedv out in the appended claim, reterence (is bad to the accompanying drawings llor an illustratiye embodiment of the inrentiom wherein 1:
Figure l is a perspective "VlG'W olt the im proved garbage can;
big, it is yertical section talren through the same; i
Fin 3 is a perspectiye yiew oi the cup or container which is adapted to be applied to the cover all the garbage can and which holds the disinitectant; and i ll ig. is a perspectire yiew oil the 'lelt or absorbent material adapted to absorb the disini'eetant which is placed n the cup or container shown in lfi ig 3..
llte'llerring the accompanying drawings wherein similar reiterence characters designate similar parts throughout, l0 designates the eonrentional body ot a garbage can or similar receptacle which may be pro ided with the orinary bail it. it cover it haw ing a handle it is adapted to cover the body anrh as usual is provided with the de pending telescopic tlanges i l-o lllpon the tmder side oi the cover it there is arranged a cup lilre container, generally designated at lb harin' a bottom it and upstanding side walls the upper edges at which are adapted to engage the under" side all the carer lit. at bolt it haying its head. upon the under side of the bottom it extends upwardly through an aperture which is termed in the carer lit and is prosided with a wing nut it for securely :tastening the container 15 upon the under side at the body. Within the container there is disposed an annular body ot 'telt or other absorbent material which is designated at 20, having an aperture therethrough receiving the bolt 1%. The side walls of the cup 15 are ertorated, as at at, and an aperture 22 is 'ormed in the cover l2 communicating with the interior of the wing nut 19 can be removed and the cup or container can be talren oil oil the cover it.
ldythe improred construction the dis-- intectant will bill all low animal lite which may be within the garbage can and will tend to reduce or retard the decomposition at be material or retuse placed r ing the amount oi gases odors which escape trom the can. The aper ture as which is used as a means tor re plenishing the disinllectant within the con tainer lli permits a small amount at the tumes to escape therethrough and will heep tlies, cats, dogs and other similar animals and insects awaytrom the anterior oi. the can v Although the invention has been described as in connection with a garbage can, will tlli llli
be understood that it is applicable to other receptacles used tor similar purposes.
llt will be understood that yarious changes in the detail oi construction ma be made without departing -lirom the spirit or scope oil the invention as defined by the appended claim,
ll claim: A
in combination with a garbage can a carer a tray beneath the coyerysaid tray being impert'orate and having a peritorated upstanding tlange engaging the under side at the cover, means. comprising a thru-bolt having a wing-nut on one end thereoi tor fastening the tray to the cover, an absorbent material otringsshaped construction disposed between the tray and the cover, said absorbent material being held centrally at the tray by means ot the thin-bolt said absorbent material haringa diameter con ltltll lltlli ltd apertures in the flange to the interior of the garbage can and a minimum amount will on evaporation, pass through the aperture 10 in the cover to the outside thereof.
'In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
